No DQ in Brookings anymore? I used to stop there every trip to the beach. I have a collection of a dozen of their Christmas glasses from a whole year of visits to Brookings.

Last day worked was Feb 7; retired effective 3/1/2019. Total time with GM was 39 years 7 months.

SLACKER! You couldn't hold out the extra 5 months to make an even 40 years?

But seriously, HUGE congratulations on retiring.

I retired at the end of 2017 with 26 years of service from Metro in L.A. working on Light Rail and Highway projects as the Design & Construction Quality Manager (other service added up to 31 years on the clock) and worked every day since I was 16 years old. 47 years in total and that was more than plenty for me. I hope you still have your health, my best to you and all the people that have managed to be able to retire!

No DQ in Gold beach anymore. No fast food at all unless you count Grocery Store fried chicken. Gold beach is already dead just decaying now. Brookings is getting a new one and prolly tear down the old one. Theres a pic of pre 54 AD hanging there (and other older DQ's) its painted white with DQ all over it.

So many questions: How did they get it up there? Are they ever going to tie it down? And lastly...WHY?

I think they're going to have the same results as this boat hauler:

Little known fact: The guy leaning on the cab in the old photo is grandfather to the guy who does marketing for US Post Office. "If it fits, it ships."

Strangely enough, there's a rollover on the highway nearby involving a flatbed that was hauling a post office truck. "If it ships, it's not gonna get there today."

SF for sure. Coit Tower right. Can't walk around like that anymore due to people piles everywhere.

LOLOLOLOL, OMG how stupid of me I didn't see Coit Tower! LOLOL Geeeez, I have been in that thing a number of times for goodness sakes.

This is the corner of Market and Kearny streets. I sat literally a block from there watching the Giants World Series parade in 2010. :D

Thanks for waking me up!

This is a neat one in that it's my home town! If there was a Buick in that photo I may be in it! LOL This is at the "Five corners" in the Irvington district of Fremont. My mom grew up in Irvington, when it was a town before Fremont joined a few of these towns in 1956. That building straight ahead with the opening on the corner is an auto repair shop that my uncle Joe worked at. There is not a Burger King there, but that's a good part of my family's history now too, it is where my wife's first job was. :D

The second picture is of my Uncle Art and his to be wife in a parade right there on the street where that AD is a number of years before. The last one is my mom working at her first job just to the right of where this photo was taken only a few hundred feet away. And the last one with my mom holding my sister with the 36 Ford was taken only a few hundred yards from this photo at five corners.
Yeah, I have a LOT of photos from Irvington.

How about that trailer! Everything was art back then, even the working trailer hauling cars.

Brian, you've been posting some cool photos. I have no idea how the old ones are colorized so well but it's neat to see. And I really love the Art Deco trailer hauling those old cars.

Here are a couple of photos here that I don't think I've shared before.

That pic was a standard feature at many DQs including the ancient one from the 50's in Brookings OR. They knocked it down last week and built a brand new one. I hope the pic was saved and transferred over.
