Oh ya. It has a small oil leak that I dont remember in the dodge. Must be the detroit green paint ..... I will take a few better pics when it is out in the sun. I need to decide what to do abt the wheels. blk steel ? blk steel with white hup caps?

Also like the look of clean white steel. Like these .

The truck looks great, glad you got it running around!

And you can't go wrong with white wheels.

The truck looks sick! Glad you got to test drive it. Me and you test drove ours within a few days of each other! Do you think the big steering wheel has any affect on the wondering feel?

Hi luther.

It may have a effect. It kinda drives like a hay wagon with a few school bus updates . I got a few tierod ends today. Will see whats up with making a new link from the steering box to the axle.

I like the way the wheels looked in your profile picture next to that field

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Well i wasnt really looking to do much more on the truck for a bit becouse boating seasion is close by. I have 3 launches booked next week and the ice isnt even out yet.

however I was at the parts store today and found that Raybestos tierod ends were only $25. so 2 new ones are on the truck. this way I can try the old ones and see if they are the rite size / taper to use for the link to go from the steering box to the axle. I hop so . this way I can just get 2 more and tap the inside of some tube and make a new link affordabily.

I also took the 56 shift knob and tapped it to fit the dodge shifter. Thanks for that idea Luther. installed a few new lug nuts to replace ssome badly worn ones.

I have so much I need to get doing soon !!!! I have abt 55 boats here in storage in the other 2 buildings. But Im havin so much dam fun workin on this old turd.... I cant stop !!!

Hopefully we get some sun on the wknd. i'd like to get a few good pics of it outside to compare ride hight etc.

As of rite now we are suppost to get freezing rain like crazy tonite. Hope not.

Did you say 55 boats??? What on earth would you do with that many boats, or didn't you say you haul them for a living?

A little more done now. I did a good nut and bolt. Grease everything and check all fluids. Still need t/c shift lever and link from steering box to axle.

Here are a few more pics. you can see how tight the cummins is in there . i did it all without cutting so im quite pleased.

Still need a pusher fan in front of the rad as well. Let me know what you all think of the wheels. I got all my matching wranglers on. i also found some 16in trim rings. I thi nk they will look sharp with some fresh paint on the rims

Here are some pics. Enjoy.

Hey Thanks Ryan. Its so nice to be able to turn the key now. And power steering . Crap how did I ever drive this thing before .... oh ya thats rite I didnt .

I think the green paint may have caused my small oil leak ;)

All I need now is a set of track bars the way you described the other day !

Looking very nice! I think it needs a set of white caps on those wheels, the 60-70s 12" painted ones should fit those wheels.

You know that Detriots don't run right unless there's a puddle under it, right?

Love your project. Looks great!

Looks great! Sometimes I think I want to go back to steelies on my Longhorn. I'll wait until i can move it under it's own power to worry about that.

Yeah, the green created the oil leak.

I have a set of the 12 inch hubcaps. They need to be painted up tho. It's on my list.

I'd love a set of the chrome ones from that late 60's early 70's vintage !

I have a set of 1/2 ton ones on the wall. Even if I heat em up they still wont strech over the big 3/4 ton wheels .;)

Thanks for all the complements guys.

I have a pic of my ugly dodge crossmember as well. Made some dropbrackets
to make it all fit. i will look for some kind of 4x4 truck crossmember for future use. this on e is fugly.

Here is one of my hubcaps . This one is mint. the other 3 look like they were on a clown car. Painted with water colours to boot. Nice eh ....

Im not sure . In my ultimate vision it has nice white rims and the chrome trim ring on the outside with the same cap but the shiney version. I keep considdering painting those caps a metalic silver , I have some . Or maby some Mexican chrome bumper paint. Then detail out the centers, gm emblem etc like the one in the pic. I dont know................ maby just the blk wheel and the caps all done to match like the one in pic.

Man your H1 wheels look huge in that last pic. Im so used to seeing them aired down in all the pics so you can reach in to work !

Goig to make the cruz nite on fri ?

Wow its been forever since i have posted. Haven done much untill just lately. Been real busy.

I got all the parts to build my trac bars and finish my steering . Found a super place just a hr from here. They had all the threaded rod ends , weld on tabs of my trac bars and a ton more. Any one lookig for cool fab stuff for steerig , 4 link and lots of other stuff check out TMR Customs. Great guys and affordable as well.

I went for a spin tonite after all the parts were installed. Man the trac bars do so much to tighten up a old truck. dosent change lanes anymore once you spool it up. I remember reading some of diesel wrenchers posts abt some cummins engs working just fine without a fan. I didnt beleive it . I must say I have driven this thing a quite few miles now and it never gets hot . I wouldent want to get stuck in traffic on a hot day but as long as you are movin it is good. These things must be movin a huge GPH of water thru that rad. I need to figure out what electric fan will fit and oreder it up. dont want to push my luck. any ways here are a few pics . looking forward to driving it now that I have some time.

Anyone know what filter will fit nice on the turbo? I know its not the best way to do it but its tight in here . also that will make for a super clean tidy look.

Oh ya , i know my rear shocks are still on upsidedown. Its on my list.
