Had any time to work on the Blazer lately?

Re: PO has me PO'd

Yes actually I did, and it's a JIMMY. (j/k) Some little lose ends has to be tied up, trimming. Sandblasted, and laid down a coat of weldable primer. Panel fits in real nice, guess it should after 4 months of fitting!! No more excuses, will start welding in the panel this week... Here's some pics. of the current progress:

The last one is of the clearance between my crossmember and the oil pan, tight fit. All I did was put Prothane motor mounts on it, and I lost clearance-any help? J.

Looks like you might have to add a spacer between your engine mount and the block. That's really close. So, when's the fish fry?

Yeah, I was thinkin' spacer too!

No fish fry, I had him mounted. Will take a year to get him back. Got a spot all picked out for him, and it is not in the parlor, already been told by the War Department....

I thought I was through with the war department went I got out of the Army, but was I in for a surprise. That's what I get for thinkin'.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Ah don't worry about it, just don't call it a POS!! lol. Went to the shop this morning with my cup of coffee and the roof decided to leak right in the middle of my wood bed, aargh, now I have a 3 ft. black stain in my newly refinished wood bed. Of all the places it could have leaked with out causing damage.... one step forward, two steps back

Re: PO has me PO'd

Sucks about the wood bed! Grrrr.

Your floor is looking great - I must learn to weld!

I used a couple washers for spacers to gain some oil pan clearance for the bbc in my K20 - seemed to be an easy fix for me.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Leaky roof, what a bummer. Do you think you can sand out the stain? Hope so! Not to mention, now you'll have to fix the roof. What a day!:(

Jaros.... quick question. Why cut out the old section where the body mount bolt goes and reuse it instead of using the new floor pan section? Is the new stuff not as strong as the old?

Actually, that piece you are referring to, sits under the floorboard. That piece goes in first, than the floorboard. Basically, that is a load spreading plate.

I don't like to sandwich metal to metal, I try to avoid it at all costs. Seems where they always rust, look closely at the plate. Soooooo.... I THOUGHT I had a better idea. That area is a support plate, that pushes up against the floorboard and spreads the load of the body mount. Plus I wanted to keep an eye on my cab mount boxes for RUST. There's more reasons why, I don't want to bore you with my dribble... Long story short , don't do it. I' ll be long in the ground, hopefully, before these have to be replaced...

Actually I think it adds character, sorta like yours has road rash. Maybe stain the whole floor black or paint it. Just ticks me off with timing....

Dude it's not that hard point and pull the trigger...

I'll try the washer idea, thought I'd run it by the resident genius's first, see what kinda feed back I get

Hey is that legal for me to quote you in your own box? Let me know if you want me to edit it back

Yeah I just fixed the roof this summer, the Mrs wanted indoor/outdoor carpeting down, on top of my roof. She likes to sit out there, and didn't want to walk on the rolled roofing paper... go figure

Well, how's the body work coming along? Anything new?

Re: PO has me PO'd

Yeah, actually a little. Hit a wall for a while, busy weekends.

Had a really cool BBQ at JC's house, bunch of truck guys got together. Met Jon Burnham with Tri- Pro, nice guy, really informative. Great to meet the guy that made all my panels and doors, forgot to mention the fit of the kick panel to him. Maybe next time!! Nice to put faces with all the people you talk to on here, great group of guys....

Had a problem with the fit of the diagonal support, seems like I wasn't getting enough penetration on my welds. Had to keep checking to make sure they were holding, just a little pressure with a pry bar up lets you know if they are holding. Pretty critical area, you don't want these to come lose....

Any way here are some pics: found out that if you put a pc. of copper in your welders magnet it helps to keep the weld from dropping out on the horizontal plane, worked for me... just an idea

Thanks for the idea of sanding the wood, seems like the stain is coming out... low prioty rite now

Next part of the project, installing pick up bulkhead in my bed. Gives me an area to build a convertible top. Future plans for the top is either a surrey or targa top

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...replace136.jpg

More pics to follow as I build the brackets. Thanks Barry B for the deal. So far I cut off 3/4" on top ends and an 1 1/4" off the bottom
