Re: Build #2 Crusader!
finally all the major block sanding to get it straight is done. Plus fixed all the little imperfections. now its on to another round of epoxy and hitting it with 320-400, making it smooth as a baby's bottom. OOH Im getting excited!

Re: Build #2 Crusader!
Yeah, all that block sanding is a drag, but it is what is necessary to get it done right. I'm glad that you're not taking the easy way out and just saying, its good enough.
And the pseudo-nondescript sound barrier that you sent arrived. It looks good, although i've never delt with the brand name guys stuff before. I'm a long ways off from applying it but at least it will be here waiting. Thanks again Mike for your help with this noob. |

Re: Build #2 Crusader!
I know my wife would love a truck like you're building for yours. Maybe after mines done (a hundred years from now), I'll build her a crewcab or something.
Knowing one did the best they could with what they have will (i.e. time, talent and tools) always be good enough I believe. Keep after it and make her proud. After looking at your other build, this one's gonna be a stunner as well! |

Re: Build #2 Crusader!
Updates? well 2 weeks ago I spent a whole week doing final sanding even got my dad to stop by and partake in the fun.
http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/s...k/DSCF6726.jpg http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/s...k/DSCF6732.jpg http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/s...k/DSCF6734.jpg http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/s...k/DSCF6735.jpg I got it all done and was hoping to have it painted by now, I had even taken a vacation day 2 fridays ago to get it done. I cleaned the garage and mixed up my sealer but on that day It turned cold like 50 degrees. My paint needs to be at least 70 for it to properly dry. and with no end in sight till next spring for some warmer 70 degree weather (at least over night) I opted to put in one of those big max heaters. http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/s...k/DSCF6789.jpg I had a blue flame "vent free" heater in the garage but each year it gets a little more stinkier in the garage and I wasnt going to run that thing for 12 hours. so I spent a week installing that. but now its all in and working good and hopefully I will get it all painted in the next 2 days I hope so cause i mixed up another cup of sealer. http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/s...k/DSCF6793.jpg |
Re: Build #2 Crusader!

Re: Build #2 Crusader!
It's looking great babe. Can't wait until it's finished and I can drive it. I know I probably won't be able to until spring, but that's ok. It'll be worth the wait.

Re: Build #2 Crusader!
Looks great man I'm really liking the look of that, if you don't mind me asking about how much did it cost you to paint that at home?

Re: Build #2 Crusader!
I just found this thread, Mike. Great looking truck so far. I love the detailed updates and pictures.
I can't help but think that this is how the '87 IROC-Z you built, and my son now owns, went together back whenever. Greg. |
Re: Build #2 Crusader!
Thanks Greg, this is exactly how the IROC went together. almost the same process, and in same garage everything. minus digital pictures and a build thread for the world to see. I forgot but do you guys have pictures of the build? by the way I am still very proud of that car.
