Nice. That a good looking rollback.
It will look even better as a 4wd.

The Dumptruck is getting the K30 treatment, and the rollback is complete and I am glad you like it. It drives and rides awesome!

Got the driveshafts out including carrier bearing. I also got all bolts out of the leaf spring mounts and left one bolt in loosely on each so I can still roll the beast out of the garage and strip the front axle out at the trucks final resting place. It took me awhile...I guess I am a slow worker.

While I was working “slowly”, I was thinking about the question earlier about matching up the gear ratios front and back...looking at the pumpkin on the Beast, the first picture, the thought hit me that Dolly’s rear end looks the same, the second pic. I think I have it figured out...I’ll take the ring and pinion from the donor and put them into Dolly, while retaining the dual wheels...a benefit of not rushing things...hope this idea works out.

You could take the cover off the back of both rear-ends and count the teeth.
You may get lucky. If there the same you won't have to change anything.

That’s a good point, and an easy task. Thanks. I’ll have to check the pumpkins for tags (including the front differential)...might even get more lucky!

Got back to the project. Took the front end, cab, motor, trans and transfer case off/out of the donor truck today.

Used the excavator to pull the motor/trans/TC.

Here it is after one round with the pressure washer. I sprayed WD40 all over afterwards, and I’ll do another round to clean it up some more. I am not too worried about how clean THIS V8 is at the moment...

Thanks, I had some time off this past week, and had a chance to get to it.

Gotta love heavy equipment, yet you have to make sure EVERYTHING’s unbolted because the whole truck will be up in the air before you know it...and/or you’ve bent or broken something.

Got some work done today, not glamorous, but necessary. This is what’s getting thrown out to the metal pile.

Here is some of the stuff I am keeping. I still have to tear apart the cab.

Is the grill on the 67/8 so bad that you cant sell some of it? looks fairly decent from this pic... I'd bet some guys would take it off your hands if its just scrap to you.

Twisted, dented...it can be a project for somebody with a lot of time. First come , first served...must take whole clip.

Front axle and leaf springs removed from the Blue Beast... I have to finish removing the rivets from the rear mounting points. Then, cleanup on the parts will start.

Well, I am back...I made a list of front end parts for 4x4 rebuild and called LMC...quick delivery.

I want to use the original hardware so I spent time removing this rear mounting point for the shackle...they put up a fight, but you’ll see that I got it done.

Refer back to the above photo of the parts list, and you’ll see notation of “Spring Eye Bushing, Qty 2. Here it is...and when I looked at it, I knew that it was not intended to be used with the original hardware mentioned above. What I really needed was new rubber and the inside sleeve...the metal casing has to go.

I drove out the metal sleeve with my shop press...on the left is the new sleeve (much bigger) and the original sleeve on the right...

A bigger sleeve going into the original hardware means the new rubber won’t fit...but a saved heater core hose fits great with a little help of liquid dishwashing soap...check that out!

That is what I had time for today.

Oh, I did one more thing today...I made a template with measurements for the upcoming fabrication and installation of these mounts. Don’t look too long...it kinda gives me a headache.

All measurements were taken from the front edge of the cab mount...both right and left.
