Thanks for your insight Scoti that is why i ask you guys! you guys know your stuff. So atleast now i know it's 13" across. As for width on the wheels they don't come in 11" only 10" or 12". here is a pic of the wheel i want to run. I don't know why i am trying to push the limits, i should just go with a tried and true wheel and tire combo. The 295x40x20 on a 10" with 5.5bs and stop going crazy over it, atleast i know it works and looks cool. It would suck if some one else did it next week and it looked killer! lol oh well

The 295-40 (or 45) do look just right on a 10" wheel. 255-40's on an 8.5" front is great for matching the sidewall dimensions as well.

I do like to see a nice side wall, i'm not into the rubber ban look myself, but each there own. As for the front you nail it, that is what nathan said would work out best with a 5.25 bs. I need to order those wheels so i can get this old girl back on the road. Thanks Scoti

I put 20 x 12s on my truck (with stock trailing arms). Take a look at my 68 thread and I'll try to answer any questions you have.

12" wide wheels fit w/no issues using OE trucks arms & the right back-spacing (you can even run up to a 14" wide wheel actually).

The issue here is a 12" wheel w/Porterbuilts rear DM-T/A kit. The placement of the bags is not in the OE location & that's where interference would/might occur.

thanks for the tip hart rod. Maybe some one on the forum has one i can use or buy cheaper. Scoti is right i have a different setup then stock and it's so new that not many people are running it. Plus Nathan made mine special because i didn't want the really big notch, i am at about 5" witch is half of what they are. i really wish i had a wheel to play with maybe my local wheel shop has something i can barrow? i'll have to look into that.
by the way your truck looks killer with those big wheels and tires!

Ray,... can you do your measuring with a stock 15" steel wheel (with no tire installed)?
I have the Percy's wheel tool that I just recently purchased here on the board.
I can send it to you if you need it.
(I may sell it actually)

I like my homemade backspace tool much better anyway.

Ray I have the Percy's tool that I would sell. ($35 plus shipping) PM me if you are interested.

The "homemade tool" that I show in the picture,... is made from plate steel
The tool has two bolt patterns is drilled into it. (5x4.75 and 5x5).
The different length threaded rods, represents the wheel width.
(11" rod for a 10" wide wheel ,for example)
This tool has threaded holes spaced in the arm for 15", 18" and 20" wheels.
It works great.
You bolt the tool to the rotor or rearend. This allows you to rotate it 360 degrees to check for interference. Up front you can turn the wheels and rotate to check for any problem areas.
The only thing it won't do,... is check tire height.
But I do that with a tape measure.
When we measured 72BlckButy's truck for wheels I planned on using this.
But Nate kept his truck a 6-lug truck,... so I had to make another tool that has the 6x5.5 pattern on it.
It's not hard to build, if you have an accurate way to drill the bolt patterns. I used a mill at work.
