Hey guys, I haven't been around lately, but I just got a call from my friend with the brown GMC with some sickening news. It's probably going to the scrapper. The reason is the shackel is shot and the spider gears exploded. We looked at the numbers and the truck had a 3:43 gear ratio in it. Is this possible? I'm depressed now.

probably 3:42 like what i have in my truck. very common. why not get new shackles and a replacement axle? any truck 73-87 1/2 ton will fit. probably $100 from the junkyard at the most. don't let another longbed head to the scrapper....

Hi Jvsapp,

those are 22" rims :metal: (with a 295/30/22 tire). For the drop we ised a self made flip kit in the back and (i think) springs from a Caprice (with Bigblock) in the front, we had the shocks custom made by Sachs. :chevy:

Oh, btw, we're almost done, here some new pics.

Very nice. so just a flip kit out back? no c notch? what year caprice springs? i have a set of 91 caprice spring from my bro's caprice when he put in some lowered springs into his caprice. looks good. i am hoping i can bring my truck down but i have a 350, 22's as well with 295/35 i think. they were free so i can't remember.

Hey guys, I'm back again. I have an update on my '81 C20. I took the topper off, added some aluminum diamond plate trim, and I have a some used parts coming for it. Personally, I like it without the topper. What do you think?

What brand is all that diamond plate bedrail trim and how does it fit? I bought just the tailgate piece from LMC (smooth not diamond plate) and haven't put it on yet because it appears to be exactly the same size as the top of the gate, making it too small to fit properly. And with my new paint, I'm not gonna screw it up to find out.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Kenny, I haven't got a clue as to what brand it is, but it could use some adjustment to fit properly. I know the smooth trim piece that you are talking about, as I had to remove mine to attach the diamond plate one. I have an idea, but I'll send you a PM so I don't get yelled at.

Thanks
Benjamin.

New to the site. Here is my pride and joy.
A 1977 C20 3+3 Silverado with 454 / TH400. Purchased from estate sale in 2003 with only 62,000 miles. Has 85,000 now. Only needed tune up, carb rebuild and a new set of gas tanks due to sitting. Been a great addition to the "family". Installed the red Camper Special wheels from my '76 C20 2dr that was virtually the same color. My children nicknamed this one "Stretch" for obvious reasons. Need more 3+3's here!
