Hey guys this is Longhorns wife ..actuall owner and driver of the longhorn!

I used my truck everyday untill we started to tear it down and restore. It hauled garbage, groceries.children to school.parts, gravel, motorcycles, chicken feed, and my fat ass any where I wanted to go.Don't forget my truck is bone stock original and hasn't been touched since we started this project..(I did add cd player). It has aprox 400000 original miles on original drivetrain. It will continue to be used as a truck when done, it is the only vehicle I own!

The 72GMC 1Ton when finished will be the car trailer hauler with a gin-pole deck.

Went out with a buddy to cut firewood Friday and Saturday. Sure wish my truck could have been there in addition to his 1970.

There is always something in the bed of my truck. It's got it easy today so far, just a few bags of leaves, most of the time it's an engine, firewood, rocks, whatever I need to move.No use to have one I can't use IMO.

shortymac83 11-08-2004 01:33 PM

This past month, we've been moving, so everything we own went in the back of my truck. I was kinda nervous there a few times...on the final trip, we had to get everything out like right the hell now, because I was going back to school in a couple hours and it was pouring rain, so we threw on an upright piano, fully loaded dresser, a chevy 235 and an AMC 258. Both motors were fully dressed. That truck was squatting so bad in the back I thought the bed was gonna fall off the frame, but it did the job. I've got pictures somewhere of the back end full of boxes. The heaviest load was probably that one, but I don't think we ever threw in less than 500 lbs in any one load. I told it that after she moves all our stuff that she's going on a permanent vacation, where the only things she'll have to haul is 2 lawn chairs and a cooler.

I use my SWB GMC for everthing. Ladder, hunting, Hauling over a ton of pellets, Rock, Bark, ETC.....I once winched an Authentic English Phone booth out of a guy's back yard. It weighed over 1800 Lbs.. Were were not going to just pick it up!!!! My record is 27 bails of Alfalfa in Yuma Az. in a shortbox. My buddy in the f250 could only get 25. (Afraid to scratch the paint or damage the springs)

I used my '68 in its original rotten shape to pick up our new dining room set from the furniture shop. I would have loved to have gotten a picture of the salesperson's face over what we where driving, as everyone else was in new suv's. At least in my truck it got the job done and I had fun doing it.

I thought I might win the prize for biggest firewood load until I seen Oldiron's 7000 lbs load on page 6.Oh well still not a bad load...it barely sat down....it makes me laugh when I hear guys say you cant haul a cord of wood in a regular size pickup.

A RICER !!!! What, you don't know what American Muscle Is ?? And where do you think the Ricers got the Idea to make em faster ??? American Muscle was around when Ricers were still in Diapers, trying to get a 4 cylinder to run smooth.. :banghead:
