Built a cheap rotisserie out of some engine stands.

I got the idea from Kabwe's build thread.

Need to add some spacers to the top bolts so the chassis sits level.

The yellow engine stand was heavy duty three years ago.

The black engine stand is now the heavy duty.

Don't want to see what heavy duty is three years from now.

Thanks Dubie!

I really like that dually.

There is a 57 tow truck in the neighborhood I've been eyeing for a while.....

Kim I haven't used it yet and I'm already glad I have it.:metal:

I was swapping engine stands around today (had to swap out the heads for rotisserie) and decided to mock up a TPI engine.

Looks like it will fit. I will have to change the starter, or bell housing to make it work.

The mental deficients that pulled this motor did a hack job on the wiring harness:devil:

Looks like it should fit just fine.

There is plenty of clearance all around. The bell housing won't work with the starter (bolts to bottom of block). I have the one that bolts to the bellhousing I can use.

Was going to remove the crossmember now so I won't have to do it later if I decide to go with an automatic trans.

Unfortunately I don't have a computer for this engine, but I do have a new Edelbrock manifold and carb for it.

This motor turns over but I don't know if it runs. Same goes for the blue one.

They sell them on ebay pretty cheap if you are interested in fuel injection. If not ignore what I said.lol

BTW Nice build.

I should have known ebay would have them.

Kabwe I was reading your build thread and noticed your IFS had lower A-arm support braces.

Did they come with your kit, or did you make them?

Mine didn't come any braces so I made some. I used some thick paper from
Costco dog bone boxes to make a pattern. The the thick paper separators from inside the box. By the way those bones contain doggy heroin. Our dog is addicted to them.

Used some 3/16" plate for the braces. I also made some gussets as well (not shown).

Should be good for a little piece of mind when hauling down the road.

Made some progress on the truck today.

Tack weld lower A-arm support braces in place.

Moved crossmember to correct location. I used my assembly manual
for the correct measurements. If you don't have one of these get one!

Got the chassis on the rotisserie.

Time to get the rest of the dirt and grime off the chassis.

Thanks Kim.

I haven't tried rotating it yet.

I'm hoping it's a one man operation.

Tried rotating the chassis on the homemade rotisserie. It wasn't easy to do.

I had to get out my biggest pry bar to get it done.

Modified the stands so the head would be level and rotate easier.

Made some adjustable height stands using stuff I have and more stuff from Blue Collar Supply.

Got some 1 1/4" bolts and nuts to make leveling the chassis easier.

With frame sitting level (and higher) I can weld on the chassis without bending over.

Having a rotisserie means no sparks or slag in places you don't want it.

Still cleaning the chassis.

Installed the notch for the rack & pinion steering. Better to do it now even thou I'm not running bags.

Got the rotisserie sorted out now it rotates very eazy.

Ordered a harness and ECU for my TPI engine.

These pics are from the Goodguys in Pleasanton last month.

There are so many cool details on this truck.

The owner is a cool guy also. Answered a lot questions on the build.

The GMC has an LS1 engine.

Thats a really clean truck. I had seen it out at the brothers trucks show. It does have an LS1...... just needs a set of motor covers.
