Re: My new project 86 Silverado
I would consider doing the body work myself but I just don't have the time for it right now. Oh well it is what it is. Are you getting anywhere with yours?

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Since i'm putting 2.5 inch drop spindles up front, trying to figure out what is best kind of shock I should use, what do you guys recommend?
I'm doing a flip in the back too, so i'd like to use same brand shocks front/back... using Mcgaughy's spindles/flip kit. Their shocks are like 50 bucks a piece... thanks |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
I still need to buy my shock extenders for mine. I am going to try to run the stock shocks. I am going to look into Bilsteins first. The only thing I am not sure about is if I can run stock shocks up front with the 2.5" spindles and 1.5 springs. I have read that I should be able to though. I would be interested in know about this question too. You might have to start a seperate post on the message board.

I'm running Gabriel shocks on mine, and though I haven't really driven it a lot it's definitely an improved ride that's for sure. I would have to say though Bilsteins shocks are pretty awesome and a great shock to use! I wouldn't run drop shocks though as i've heard there crap. KYB is another brand but your going to pay quite a pretty penny or 2 for them. Quote:
You should be able to run your stock or any aftermarket shock aside from drop shocks, because even though your dropping the truck, and putting springs that shock will have to meet up with the spring so I personally don't see where there would be an issue with it. |

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
too much wind, pollen pods, and Maple seeds a flyin around to spray today...
going to make a bootleg spray booth that is 12x12 ft by 8ft tall out of PVC pipe and fittings. going to put the cab up on cinder clocks and 4x4's to get it up off the ground, with a sheet of plastic on the ground underneath it so I don't get dust and crap off the ground when I spray... should be interesting... updates soon |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado

several (16 so far) pieces of 1 inch PVC x 10 feet long
2 2x4's 4 cinder blocks various T's and side outlet fittings clear 4 mil plastic sheeting will probably make it 16x16 feet... needs more room around the sides... should have it complete in the morning... :chevy: |

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
I taped all the connections of the pipe with 100mph tape...
need a top cross bar, so i'll do that tomorrow because of the impending rain, had to just cover the cab with plastic sheet and wait... thinking of what tires to go with now for my new rims :) tracking says my front spindles will be here tomorow, so I can get them on, and all the front rod ends, all that stuff... slowly but surely... :chevy: |
