Glad you got it worked out. While 300 may not be great it sure beats 800.

I don't mind paying a little extra because I realize that there are some labor charges involved for a seller to pack and ship. But there is a limit and some places are going way overboard. I want the 99 cent cheeseburger, not the steak and lobster.

I figured with fuel costs the way they are , it would cost more for the return trip than when I shipped back in jan..
But not the crazy numbers ups is throwing out..

Much better. Glad to hear. I guess the bumpers were better shipped freight than at the upper end of what UPS will handle. They aren't light, but must have been within their limit or they never would have quoted a price. I think the overlength calculation must double the cost. Pretty exciting, though, ey? You will be receiving shiny new chromed bumpers!!

A friend of mine bought a '47 Dodge coupe that was cosmetically restored including chrome plating. I just looked at it last week. Let me tell you, that fresh chrome kicks that car up several notches

Chrome makes it go faster.

It's true, I read it on the internet.

I got a text today from FedEx. Apparently, even though my son was here all day and nobody has had to be here for deliveries before, they had a failed delivery attempt. Told me to go online to set up another delivery. Delivery for what? Why didn't they just leave it... or knock on the damn door? They left no slip with info. I have no idea what they tried to deliver. I ordered one thing this morning and something else yesterday. But I have no e-mails yet telling me they are on their way. So no tracking info or order number. FedEx says they will make two more attempts. Gee, I hope my son is standing in the driveway when they come this time. No need for anyone to be here but no way to let them know that. So they have two more failed deliveries, then I have to go pickup. Go pickup what? How do I identify it with no shipping info. I don't even know what the item is. My son said he got the same text a couple days ago and he has nothing on order. What a totally screwed up mess!

We had a saying, "If it don't go, chrome it".

Our saying around here was "Chrome won't get you home"

Sounds like a scam and not from FedEx

It is obvious FedEx and others have more business than they can take care of, properly. We received a message last week our package had been delivered. It had not. Two days later we received another message stating the delivery had been delayed by a couple of days.
Back to the OG topic USPS. With Walmart and Amazon delivering some by drone can we guess the USPS will begin doing the same some time soon? It seems to be the current way of thinking now days.

I'm not trying to get too far off topic here but I've got a funny story about drones. At least I think it's funny.

Edison is redoing the power grid. They are using drones to examine the lines. It's kind of redneck where I live. So Edison sent out letters (I got one) asking residents to please not shoot down the drones.

Back on topic. I just thought it was funny.

You're probably right. Nothing today. But all they did was give me a web address to arrange a delivery. I went to that web address and it was just FedEx's general website and that is where it ended. What kind of scam is that? A waste 5 minutes of my time scam? Whoa Nellie! They got me good!!

Honest to god. Stupid Edison chartered black helicopters and all the slack jaw mouth breathers lost their lunch. They have blue helicopters now. Light blue.

I have to say that I'd like to shoot one of those drones. Just for S&G's It would be fun. :)

But I'd probably get in trouble. Yup. Pretty sure I would.

Never stopped me before.

Do drones respond to decoys?

Re: I give up on shipping anything USPS

I just hope if they start using drones to deliver my packages that they don't drop them from 100 feet in the air. That seems like something USPS would do.

oh you know they would..!!!..theyd for sure figure out how to screw it up

In all fairness, we all know UPS and FedEx toss boxes around, run them over, or any other fault that can be claimed against the post office.

Oh yeah. They all do it.

If UPS, FedEx, and USPS all get drones they will probably crash into each other buzzing around. :uhmk:

Okay. Here's the story. I just bought rear window glass for my Satellite wagon. This is not easy to find. I was lucky to find this one.

The problem: I have to have it shipped and it's glass. Very fragile. In my head I'm imagining a box full of broken glass showing up. I'm nervous.

Take a trip - go pick it up. I'll bet there's room for a back glass somewhere in that motorhome. And while you're out, stop someplace with delicious, fresh, clam chowder.

 Oh man. Don't mention clam chowder right now. I'm still puckered up from the last round.

I wouldn't mind taking the motorhome to Texas. I love Texas. But with the price of gas these days? Eh? That might be a pricy trip. The "Breaking Bad' motorhome doesn't exactly sip gas.

just a data point, I shipped a kit USPS sat at 11:45, just before the post office closed. it was delivered this morning to tennessee. post office closed for the holiday sunday and monday (and only open 15 min after I dropped off), still made it essentially the next day.
