Do you have any pictures of the dark yellow blazer? The paint code number is different than the ochre.

My 72 Highlander, in still confused why some actually say Highlander on the SPID? and did the Highlanders had to be ordered, or did Chevy just a few made and sent to dealers, mine was on the show room floor I wish it had the factory tach and tow hooks

Awesome truck! I believe if they say "highlander" on the spid they are typically saying "highlander plaid" or "avocado highlander" which is an upgraded seat cover option that could have been added to almost any truck or blazer in 72. The rest of the highlanders are promotional trucks (like your blazer) which came with different packages and options depending on what level you ordered. The spid on a promo truck will typically say "special promotional" and the RPO code to the left of the "special promotional" would determine what highlander package was ordered. Here is an excerpt from the first post in this thread:

In addition to the Highlander plaid trim your vehicle may ALSO have a Promo Package code.
These bundled options with the plaid trim for a cost savings in three packages "A", "B" and "C"
On the SPID they are coded:
YG6
YG7
YG8

Promo package codes.

A= YG6 Plaid Trim, Special Wheelcovers C10/K5 (PA1) or Chrome Hubcaps K10/K5(PO3), Door Edge Guards and Stainless Camper Mirrors (DF2).

B= YG7 (includes A) Adds Turbo-Hydramatic Trans., Power Steering and Tilt.

C= YG8 (includes A and B) Adds A/C and Tint.

Hope this helps,

To the best of my knowledge, the SPIDs that call out "Highlander" are seen on St Louis built K5s only. Flint build Highlanders have SPIDs that do not call out Highlander. The Flint SPID instead calls out “Custom Trim Combina(tion)”. Flint also appears the plant where the promo package builds occurred. St Louis doesn't appear to be the source for any promo package highlanders (or single wall tops).

Feel free to comb through the Highlander SPIDs to corroborate.

Guess I’m late to the party. Bought my Blazer at the end of 2017 and almost to interior. Here’s my SPID and the back seat which was all that was left of the stock interior beside the door panels

Has anyone purchased bulk fabric from SMS? I am trying to figure out the bolt length and pattern repeat?? My OCD would not allow for some of these offset patterns.....Notice the offset pattern on the orange set and the Olive pattern is what I am hoping to achieve.

I understand what your saying. My upholsterer told me to get 1 to 1 1/2 yards for my factory buckets but I got two yards as like you Ii wanted the pattern on both seats to be symmetrical and I have some left over. Picture is my seats redone.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

So from my reading of post #1 is that my 72 Blazer originally came with Gray Highlander seats:

1Z8410 this is the code for the CST package
and
167110 this means gray highlander upholstery

Now I just wish I could figure out what color this is that I have. It is somewhere in between a medium green and a blue, more of a "turquoise" or "teal" I suppose. 4001BA is maybe a custom color?

Here’s one now on eBay. SPID says light yellow but for all the world this looks like an oem orange example and VINs match. Anyone see this as a light yellow Blazer? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Chevro....c100667.m2042

Odd isn't it? Really looks like original paint to me. Could GM have run out of light yellow on this example assembled late in model year or last minute change by customer after SPID created? Too bad to hint at color of the plaid that was in there - green on SPID and would be fun to see paired w orange.

Many people know about the 72 Highlander Plaid seat trim option on both Chevrolet and GMC conventional light trucks.

However in an attempt to reach out to those who don't know I am asking people who are not sure to please check the trim code/s of their trucks.

Often the seat covers have been replaced leaving few clues beyond white door panels (again often changed) and seat belts with black dash pad, column and carpet.

So if you could, let us know if you have (or just found!) "Hidden Highlander"

The codes to look for are below.
Also just in case SPID reading is new to you the code may have leading and trailing numbers even letters. Reading between the lines may be needed.

Examples 613, _ 613_ _, 613_ _

As far as the SPID description goes, generally you will see "CUSTOM TRIM COMBINA" or the COLOR followed by "...HIGHLANDER P"

This thread is body style specifc so if you have several different body styles please check the other forums for the specific trim codes as applicable. Not trying to crosspost this, just touch with all who may have a Highlander.

Blazer CST Z84 mandatory option
Avocado 680
Blue 677
Gray 671
Orange 686

C= YG8 (includes A and B) Adds A/C and Tint.

So where is this GMC literature equivalent to the Chevy Highlander brochures and fabric samples? I have never seen a GMC with it nor any documents related to Highlander promotion at GMC dealers....does anyone have these booklets pamphlets and docs?

Wouldn’t that look amazing restored! It’s back on eBay this very moment. Grab it. I’d think an all blue non plaid interior would at least as good too.
