Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
I have a 68 K-10. i want PS! Can you provide a list of everything I need to make this happen. Will buy your plate and rag coupler if needed. Want to keep old steering colum.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
1) You will need a '68-'87 K series, or '88-'91 V series steering box and the pitman arm.
2) You will need the correct draglink for the front axle you are running. 3) You will need a power steering pump, brackets and pulleys for the engine you are running. 4) You will need the appropriate belt to drive the pump, and also the pressure and return lines from the pump to the box. 5) You may need a new rag joint, depending on whether you get a good one with the box or not. 6) There is bound to be some miscellaneous nuts, bolts, washers, clamps, fittings, etc. that you may need. 7) You will need an adapter plate to mount the box to the frame. The tube and flange will simplify the connection to your original steering column shaft. Quote:

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
I thank you sir! Does your plate work with the suggested boxes and could you clarify #7 about the the tube and flange?
|
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Yes my power steering box adapter plate works with that year range of steering box....that is what it is designed to work with. The tube and flange allows you to connect your original steering column shaft to the power steering bos without having to weld. I'mnot sure on the '67-'68 4wd's. but if it is the same as the 2wd's your steering column shaft is already the correct length. So you may not need the tube and flange. This steering box adapter and the tube and flange was designed specifically for the '63-'66 trucks, so your situation will be a little different.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Would like to know everything you have currently available for purchase for a power steering conversion. Please let me know parts, pricing, and payment requirements. Thanks for the help.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Did you receive my reply to your PM a couple weeks ago about this?
What I have to offer is shown in this thread. The power steering box adapter plate and the tube and flange. I do not sell complete conversion kits. I see no sense in paying shipping on those heavy parts, such as the steeing box, that you can easily purchase locally either used or new. The pricing is still the same as in post #1 & #137. If you purchase both the plate and the tube and flange, the shipping is still $10.00. For payments I accept PayPal and money orders. Let me know if this will work for you and I can get these parts on their way. Quote:

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Thanks for the info - just wanted to make sure there weren't any new parts that were offered that I didn't know about.
I didn't receive a PM - that's why I waited a while - then posted here. Sorry for the redundancy. I appreciate the help - will be ordering soon. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
John,
Thank you! I could have easily fabbed up one of these plates, but your plate is a clean, well-designed, set-up that will definately save me time we don't have. Additionally, as we researched how to drop a BBC into our burb, I constantly came across tips, ideas, and shortcuts from you on every aspect of this conversion. THANKS for all the help you give this community! |
