They shaved an inch off of firewall-that "plate" is the original firewall piece in stock location.........

Yup that's correct. I bought the cab and it was cut back an inch and smooth. It was an um what do I do for my column and booster? My body man agreed and said find another firewall and cut it out. I'll make it work lol it don't look too bad does it?

Nice!!! It does look like he is doing a really good job for you, and it's hard to find a shop that does. We have a winner!!

I may be wrong but I think it's just sheetmetal not a plate.

Looks like a lot of nice progress 77Chris. keep up the hard work.

Thanks its a pain in the rear lol. I actually went to a auto salvage and cut that piece straight off of another truck so it is the actual firewall with all the structural bracing still intact. I got lucky when I cut it and didn't realize I got the bracing too. Believe me its sting maybe even stronger than the original. I hope it looks alright when its done

Re: My 68 swb build.

soooo.. i just got off the phone with my body guy and thank god i have a spare glove box door and ashtray....he cant find them anywhere..oh well thats the point in having spare parts you can never have too many hahaha

anyways, tomorrow i am going to run out of work at 330pm and head over to the shop.
i have to take him the paint and materials, glove box door, ashtray, and hood cowl. the one i was going to use is shaved, but i thought about it and i need the opening for the a/c. and it will still give it the truck look instead of a fully shaved truck. i think it will look good...hopefully...lol

So I have a hood cowl that is shaved, only needs to be finished for sale. 20 bucks plus shipping. Pm if interested i will post a pic as soon as i can

It's getting down to it. It's cool to see them make the turn and start coming back together. And I know what you mean about parts going missing too - what a PITA.

Keep the pics coming.

I think I may have found some 67 rear fenders for my truck and have a cool idea if I get them.

Re: My 68 swb build.

So I get a call yesterday from my dad and he said his bosses brother went and looked at a customers car and happen to see a cab he liked. Little did I know that the car he went to look at is at the same shop my cab is at. He tools pics and sent to a friend looking for one. That friend wants my cab and wants it bad. I'm gonna tell him no even tho he offered a butt load of money. To me its not worth trying to find another rust free cab. Go find ur own. Lol

Re: My 68 swb build.

Sounds like a tempting offer, but a good call....really nice cabs like that are hard to find. Tell the guy to check out west and consider buying a complete longbed that's rust free so it's cheaper to ship and he can get back his $$$ by parting the rest of it out (the plan for my next build)

Looks good. You can load videos on photobucket. I may be interested in the shaved cowl panel. Can you PM me a picture?
