Rear bumper & camaro gas tank install looks good George ! Could you do me a favor & measure the stepside bumper....the exact length, end to end ? I don't want to buy the wrong one for my truck while searching at a swap meet or craigslist. Thanks in advance !

A fleet side bed bumper is 78 inches long
A step side rear bumper is 71 1/2 or 72 inches.

Thank You George....during research, I found that stepside bumpers from
1967 thru 1986 have the same part #. Now that I have your measurement,
I can begin my search...I HATE buying the wrong parts !

As you have read in my build, I went through three bumpers before I got the right one. Two really cause the first one was all scratched up due to shipping.
Good luck and I hope you will find the right one the first time.

Today, I wired the Camaro gas tank sending unit.. mounted the temp controls, and the speed o meter cable. a few minor things that I wanted to get out of the way.

Next week I am ordering my front bumper. I know for sure that I want have any trouble with it not fitting. The second picture is a little burry. It shows the speed-o-meter cable going through the fire wall. I hope to take the old girl to the muffler shop next month. Then I can buy my carb and crank her up.

Just read your build thread from beginning. Nice work. Surprised myself in how much I remembered and also how much I forgot about both the 68's and the 72's. The work is one thing. but tracking it and updating it so frequently (with pictures) is to be greatly admired.
regards

Thanks. The reason I post so many pictures is that someone might see and remember how things go. I have had to search this forum for pictures of items that I forgot about. Maybe someone will find this in my thread.

Well, today we had strong winds here in Florida. The same storm that dumped 2 feet of snow up north gave us strong winds. I have to get another tarp for my canophy. here is the damage to my shelter. I hope this has not slowed down buying my front bumper.

I removed the ripped tarp off the canopy today. I wanted to put the new one back, but the wind was blowing a little too much to do it by myself.

I ordered my front bumper today. The expected delivery date is 2.06.15. Then all my body parts will be behind me. My next thing is the stainless bed strips un-punched. Then I can do my bed floor.

I wanted to put the new tarp on my canopy, but the weather was too cold. It was 32 this morning. Maybe tomorrow. The temp. went from 32 to 70 in just a few hours.
ICE ICE ICE the ole girl never had ice on her before.

Re: 1968

I sure wish we could get a few days of 70 degree's. Went to V.A. in Seattle 6 weeks ago and spent from 0800 hrs until 1640hrs on a gurney. The original issue has mostly subsided but my back started hurting on the 2hr drive home. Still hurting after all this time.

I bought a welder to fix some areas on my truck but haven't even turned it on yet. Just watching Utube video's to get the hang of it. Even then will have to go lie down for a bit with a heat pad to face the day, Want to go to Harbor Freight and get a helmet and gloves if I can manage it.

Watching your traffic still.

yea I know about a bad back. I have one myself and when it goes out I am on my back for three days to recover. But keep up the work and you will get a hang on the welder.

I replaced the tarp on my canopy today Now I am ready for the summer. It gets pretty hot here. And it will keep the frost off the ole girl. I hope to have it running in a couple months. Long time coming.

Yea it is a poor man's garage. How about that Dean & Nick, I thought I was going to have to put it off another day. The tarp that is. The wind started blowing about half way through the job. But with a little help from one of my boys I got it done. I am still waiting on the bumper. it should be here next week some time.
