Didn't want to go thru what I went thru on the front and rear bumpers.

Check out JEGS.com George if your EBAY stuff doesn't work out, that's where I got my Flowmaster downpipes... then I'll get the rest of the system when I get to that point, but these will at least allow me to fire the truck up. Also JEGS will beat any competitors price... so you can price match. http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowmaster/389/81072/10002/-1 found them on Amazon for $109 with free shipping and they price matched them.

I'll go with this kit later. http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowmaster/389/815936/10002/-1 for stuff like this I find the lowest online price and jsut have JEGS price match because if it doesn't work out for some reason they have easy and simple return process.

What happened George? You got the correct parts? Something has to be wrong with the shipper, they must not have realized it was you they were shipping to. :-)

It even amazed me also/ the right parts for a change.
Today I mounted the rails for the distributor wires they look ok, but not in love with this set up. I got some stainless 5 inch 1/2x 20 bolts coming for the rails. My brother in law works at a machine shop and he's doing me a favor and cutting these out for me. I only put these on for now. I also installed the down pipes that I got in the mail yesterday. I will be installing the pipes and muffler tomorrow.

Yea, you will hate that after a while, I think under the exhaust manifolds would look better. You need the old stock wire looms or something like them to keep the wires off the hot parts though.

Re: 1968

I bought some alum wire seperators to fix that problem. You might be right on the rails. after I get the special bolts I will try the lower site for the rails.

I mounted the carb today. and ran all my rubber hoses except for the gas line. I need a straight fitting. I bought a elbo fitting, so I will return it and get a straight one.
also here are a couple pictures of the down pipes mounted on the engine.

Today I put the braded gas line on the carb and mounted the new air filter. looks like it going to work. The other one was a little large and it hit the HEI distributor.

I got my exhaust system about 95% done. I need to weld a brace to support the hanger and a couple of down spouts and it will be done. I will install the tail pipes later. I need to take the truck to the muffler shop for that. Too many bends.

Xeen 03-11-2015 06:43 AM

Re: 1968

George you could save yourself some money at the muffler shop and do what most guys do, dump the pipes right before the rear axle and call it good.

That is what I did. I went to the muffler shop today and he bent me two pipes and didn't charge me a dine. It pays to know someone in that trade. So my exhaust is done. I am waiting on a couple of items for my engine. Oil pressure line and a turn buckle for the alt. then I can start the engine. been a long time coming. But thanks for the advice. will take pictures of the turn downs tomorrow.

Today I took the picture of the turn downs on the mufflers, so here it is. I also started sand blasting the wheels. I had three so I went to the bone yard and purchased two more. One for the spare tire.
