I finally got the ole girl running. I had to but another HEI distributor from a local supplier.
The MSD distributor was no good that I bought from a fellow board member 1 1/2 years ago. Guys check out the parts you buy and not just put them up somewhere. I also bought a set of four cragar 8" black wheels and center caps with new lug nuts

those Cragars are gonna look awsome..... congrats on lighting her up

Probably just needed to replace the module in the distributor, they are cheap and easy to get. You could have put in a GM one even

I checked the module and it was good. so I went to the bone yard and picked up one that was in great shape for a song.

Well. UPS struck again. They can't find my other two wheels. So I contacted summit and they are shipping me two more wheel, they should be here Tuesday. So Wednesday I will marry the wheels to the tires and mount them on the truck. Every time I crank the truck it sounds better. can't wait until I can drive the ole girl. I have a exhaust leak on the manifold on the pass side. so I will tighten it up before Wednesday. Got to adjust the rear brakes and bleed the system. and then I will take it to the front end shop for allingment. Almost ready to drive,

Re: 1968

Today I added anti freeze to the radiator and adjusted the rear brakes. I started to bleed the brakes but come upon a slight problem. The proportioning valve was a used one I pick up some where and it didn't work. so I bought a complete master and booster with proportioning valve with brackets and lines. a complete set up I just didn't want any problems with the brakes. it should be in in a few days. I don't like the way the torque converter sounded so I ordered a new one also. A minor set back but this way I know it will be right. So tomorrow I will pull the brake set up off the truck and start to pull the transmission back, I will not take the transmission all the way out of the truck. I did this before with the flex plate, I should have installed new torque converter then. But money was tight, so now I am paying for it in labor.
Still waiting for my other two wheels to come in. they should be here tomorrow I hope.

I don't know why your project sounds so much like mine. If I haven't done the same task three times I know it's not done.

Re: 1968

I ordered a new torque converter and a new chrome master cly and brake booster and proportioning valve with lines all chrome. I also got the front and rear seals, I know I don't want to do this again for a 10.00 seal. It wasn't leaking but why not.
There was only a few dollars difference between the chrome and the cast iron. So I always say Chrome will get you home.My parts will be here on the 14th of this month. So a little down time will do me good. I finally got my other two wheels so I will mount them to the tire tomorrow. I hope nothing goes wrong.

I got my tires mounted on the new rims today. I am not going to mount them on the truck until I get the transmission torque converter and the brake booster back together.
I just don't want to have them in my way at this point. Dave I will call you in the morning thanks george

thanks David and Bryan for you comments. I finished the install on the brake combo today. I also installed the torque converter, that was a piece of cake. I mounted the four wheels and tires on the truck. They look sweet. I will post pictures tomorrow on that. I will finish button up a few little thing not done today. Like installing the drive shaft and bleeding the brakes. I hope tomorrow or Thursday I will take it down to the front end shop and do a alignment. And guys I hope that is all I need to drive the beast. keep your fingers crossed. George
