Just splurged for the dewalt
Yep...finally got the nerve up to spend the big bucks. Went out at lunch and bought a dewalt cordless drill. 18 volt - 1/2 drive. Sucker cost $280 with tax. I sure hope it's as handy as I thought.
Anyone had good luck/bad luck with dewalt cordless drills? |
nothing but good luck with dewalt
never used a dewalt cordless, but once you go cordless you never go back. i love my mastercraft 12v. no cords! i just wish my sawzall was cordless so i could take it to the junkyard.
Hell yeah. I bought the dewalt 18v kit for 400 this week. Come with a 18v cordless drill, cordless saw, flash light and cordless sawzall tool.:metal: Reason I went with a dewalt dril was cause my best friend a a manager at a custom stereo shop and has used there drill for 2 years and has not had a problem, and he uses that drill to the fullest.
Good to hear. All of our maintenance guys in the our machine shop use dewalt cordless drills and have never had a problem.
I'm ready to try it out! |
Nice - Between Dewalt and Porter Cable cordless tools I built a new Kitchen and bathroom  :D
Does anyone know how good the porter cable round sander is. I'll get a part number in a few hours cause I'm eyeing one at my work. Also what kind of cuting tool do you guys use, I'm talking about the air tool with a shield covering half the cutting disc, almost like a die-grinder.
I have used DeWalt cordless drills for years with no problems. It was used every day on the job , dropped, and still works. Make sure you get the models with the black rubber grip( heavy duty models). The solid handle model won't hold up as well.

Man, I've got a ton of DeWalt tools. I use them in my profession (Carpenter) every day. IMO, there is none better. You just can't go wrong with any DeWalt tool.
Thats what we use and have had nothing but good experiences!! They are powerfull and seem to last longer on a charge.
I've had 2. I had a 12V and some POS stole it, kicked in the door on my shop and stole it and my radio. He didn't even get the charger or spare battery. Oh well, wnet an dbought the 14.4 V. I love that thing.
as a contractor i have tons of toys inclkuding one dewalt cordless hammer drill and i love it the thing takes one hell of a beating
Doing electrical construction, I've beat the hell out of a few dewalt 14.4 hammerdrills. They are great. I use them for things I shouldn't be doing with a cordless (turning a 1 1/4 augerbit, 1/2 masonry bits, 3 and 3 1/2 inch holesaws, etc) and they keep on going.
I got tired of paying for Makita prices.. so I recently switch everything I have over to dewalt. At home and at work. I love that 4 piece kit! Light, drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw. I also got the radio/charger deal. I'm very happy with it.
I myself have and LOVE DeWalt corless tools. I have a casket sized suitcase full. 2 18v drills, sabre saw, sawzall, light, 6-1/2 circle saw. BUT I don't know if they will remain as good as they have been. Last thing I read about old Black and Decker was that they were moving DeWalt production off shore. I hope it isn't true because it was another reason why I purchased them.
Does Dewalt make a 1/2 drive cordless impact? I had a Makita and that thing was damned handy! I need to find another one, but I can't really afford another Makita!

I love the older Dewalt cordless stuff but now they would have to give them to me free as I heard they fired everybody and moved production to mexico.
Who sells Mastercraft, I never heard of them.
Well here in Canada its the canadian tire stores, I'm not sure south of us
i got mine from my father in law. he got it from canadian tire. i haven't seen them anywhere down here yet.
ive got a Dewalt 12 volt at work and a makitta for around the house, they are both good but I definatly prefer Dewalt, you cant beat the torgue or durability
I've used several drills over the years, and Dewalt is my favorite.
We recently built a dock at the KC zoo and the Dewalt's ran circles around the other cordless drills securing the deck. |
Sure sounds like Dewalt makes some good stuff. Expensive though.
