My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
So since I'm done (for now) with my 63 Stepper "EZ Eight" and my 70 C10 is now a citizen of Australia :( I decided to pull my 63 SWB BBW project out (aka Frank) and finish him up...
Here's Frank sitting next to EZ Eight and starting to get piled in... http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psp8vhfwnu.jpg And here's my former 70 C10 that now resides in Australia http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...pseeqarmzv.jpg |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
So got Frank out and have another project to keep EZ Eight company lol...

Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
So now that Frank is in a place where I can work on him, I dusted him off and checked out where I left off and what's next on the list. I also installed some freshly powder coated stockers and new rubber.
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psp4knaxc5.jpg I had already finished most the front suspension and my next steps should be rear suspension then the 283/Powerglide drive train. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psdxdszfiz.jpg |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank

In for the build. Frank is a good looking truck!

Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
I do like the EZ-Eight truck.
If it and the Australian are anything to go by..... Frank will Frankly be terrific. |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
OK some updates...
Got my CPP notches in (you can see the template I made on the floor in the background: http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psbhwjjry3.jpg Shipping was free and super-fast (1-day), fitment was spot on, and the only hard part of the job I could say was getting out (fighting lol) the factory rivets :waah: |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Next was on to the rear shock relocation brackets...

Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Drill and bolt in...
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...pst8yon4qb.jpg They line up good with the frame and fit nice next to the CPP notches... you can also see the CPP Deluxe Trac Bar installed with 2" CPP Drop Blocks. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psbxayyfsf.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...pswedrz8ia.jpg |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
I'm using the factory bottom rear shock mounts just flipped around and swapped sides...
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...pse0vxky5i.jpg Frame clearance is good... http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psibsbdfvs.jpg Here is the hardware for the top shock mount to bracket... http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psjxfaqwug.jpg |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Best part is the shock angle looks really good so they should function the best they can...

Next week Engine and Trans should be going in... SBC 350 (Dressed as a 283) with Powerglide Trans.. will be using factory V8 mounts and CPP tubular trans cross member. |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Well I worked on a few different items but kind of bounced back and forth between; not fully finishing any one item.
I got the engine and trans in but still need to bolt on some more items and then will post pics. I also started on the bed floor but wasn't able to finish with the holidays.. will post pics when complete. So not to leave you without any pics; here's one I took on Sunday of the rear sitting a hair above driving height. The front is static drop and the rear will be bagged (currently the rear is blocked up to estimated ride height). http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psitjbdcvz.jpg |

Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Been a few weeks since I updated but still been working on Frank..
Got 2/3's of the bed done.. will finish back half after I get my tank and compressor mounted (its going under that part of the bed). http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psiccyemye.jpg |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Got motor and trans in..
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psnp5wd3h0.jpg I used the CPP Trans crossmember and it worked great with my Powerglide; and I can use the same crossmember and mount if I want to upgrade to 700R4 later on. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psm0yufnh0.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psykq6wk6c.jpg |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Also since this chassis was originally fitted with a 3-Speed Manual Trans, I had to find an original Powerglide frame pivot bracket (that was a search lol).
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psyxiubb6y.jpg I setup the starter for a remote starter solenoid and added a large 4-gauge ground strap for increased engine and starter grounding. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psojl4mkxp.jpg |
Re: My 63 SWB BBW Build Frank
Lastly I cleaned up the cab for installation next weekend!!!! Can't wait!
