Overhaulin 72 SWB episode

Just wanted to spread the word that the new season of Overhaulin started last Thursday. This Thursday, is a 71 or 72 (I cant remember which) SWB 2wd pickup. I was down at Fooses shop for a reveal of another car when I saw this pickup... You will want to see this one, it has some neat design ideas. I was amazed at what those guys can do in one week.
Anyway, thats this Thursday on The Learning Channel (5 and 9 PM PST?), that would be May 1st.

Wouldn't happen to be this one would it? It was at SEMA. Very nice truck. At that time I was told it was done for someone who worked on the show, not a show build.

Nope... not unless they changed some stuff.

Also... this will apparently be the last season. I personally think they should have cancelled LA Ink instead... but thats just me.

i just finished watching this, what is it with chip and 2 tones?

Ole Blue 68 05-03-2008 08:05 AM

Re: Overhaulin 72 SWB episode

I gotta agree. I've seen both episodes this season and both times he went a little goofy with the two tones. I loved the truck but if it was mine, I think I'd just go straight orange with black trim.

was a lwb ...nice work as useual but yeah the two tone..ehh

Re: Overhaulin 72 SWB episode

I liked it. I wish they would have put some more power under the hood. That blown engine they joked about would have worked fine. :metal: I also wish they would have shown what they did with the gas filler.

Re: Overhaulin 72 SWB episode

Anybody notice they shaved firewall where the a/c or heater box was? That was unexpected. Most of the parts seemed to come from Classic Industries which I haven't heard much of on this board.

I saw this truck down at Fooses shop one week after its completion. (I goofed on thinking it was a SWB)
Im with you guys on the two tone... however, Ive got to say, This truck was Awesome. Trust Me On This... you would want it.It is unbeleivable what they do in a week.

steelhorse 05-03-2008 03:08 PM

Re: Overhaulin 72 SWB episode

I think it would be nice if they would show a little more of the tech(like shaving the gas fill/firewall ect).Sometimes they spend to much time on the pranks/family history and not enough on the vehical.

I want to know what they did about the rear end being out of whack an inch and a half. They also did an 8 lug, to 5 lug conversion. What kind of rear end did they put in it? What kind of tranny? They left alot of details out for us viewers...but I guess that's what happens when you have to pack 96 hrs of work into 1 hr of TV.

I do love that hugger orange though! I agree w/ steelhorse, I can do without any of the cheesy pranks, etc. Just show us the build! Chop Cut Rebuild has it down pretty well...I'd like to take that '75 or whatever Brickland around the block.

Yeah, what the heck was up with that??? The guy was like the rear end is out of whack, and I was like wth? Then they pulled the bed off, so I thought they would answer what was wrong, but nope.

Re: Overhaulin 72 SWB episode

The hugger orange doesn't seem right to me. Mine is not as orange. I would have kept the upper trim (Foose doesn't like trim). Mine is a 72 3/4 ton just like this 71. I was really excited to see what Chip would do. I must say I was a little disappointed. Seems like the owner wasn't all that excited either. I wish he would have kept the 8 bolt wheels and made some customs for it. I would love to have a set of 8 bolt ralley wheels. That said, I wouldn't mind if he did that to my truck.

Ole Blue 68 05-03-2008 06:51 PM

Re: Overhaulin 72 SWB episode

Sorry Mertz, 8 lugs just aren't sexy enough for Foose. ;)

As far as who supplied the parts (Classic Industries) or which engine they put in to it, you all gotta remember that they're just promoting their corporate sponsors.

We, as enthusiasts, will always be disappointed by automotive shows, especially the ones that are not on sports-oriented stations....not that those are any better, but at least you should be able to think they would.
If they were too comprehensive, the average viewer would get bored because they don't understand what they are seeing. They are looking for that "final product" and amazed by how far they strip these cars.

I wish someone would promote their buisness with a bunch of parts for me:lol:

I agree with you 100 percent on this one, they need to think of more than just the "motor heads", I mean enthusiasts on these shows for ratings
