---I’m re-doing this thread to fix all of the pictures--- What's up everyone? I've been lurking on the forum for almost a year reading up on the awesome projects and decided to start a build thread of my own. This truck is pretty special to me because it was originally my Father's when I was a little kid. I always loved riding in the truck and getting dropped off at soccer practice while the other kids were climbing out of mini vans. Anyway, when I was about 12 my Father ended up selling the truck to buy something more economical. A few years later my uncle came across it for sale. The new owner's son slid it sideways into a tree, taking out the bed and bending the frame. My uncle bought it, and another truck for parts with the hopes of making one good truck. Both trucks sat inside his garage for about 15 years until I got the bright idea to sell my car and do a proper rebuild. Here is the car I sold to fund the build: 1995 BMW M3 (hence my username) A few old pictures The plans for the truck are a 350, 4 speed Muncie, and 9" rear. I just ordered a Porterbuilt C4 dropmember and weld in 4 link. The frame will be boxed and it will ride on coilovers. "Full Circle" - The truck was my fathers. The 350 was out of my brother's truck. He replaced it with a built 383. The Muncie was my Dad's friends, then his son's, then I bought it. This truck has a lot of history. My brother's truck. 83 K30, Built 383, TH400, d60, 14bolt, 5.13s, lockrite, detroit, full cage, 39" boggers. He is also building 1969 C10 rear engine mud truck on 2.5 tons My Father is also building a 57 Chevy. Built 454, TH400, 9" rear, boxed, shockwaves, wilwood brakes etc. and my other toy: 2000 Jeep Wrangler, HP30, D44, 4.88s, ARBs, 35 MTRs, Full belly and gas tank skids |

I started mocking up the front end this weekend and it's starting to look like a truck again for the first time in about 20 years. :metal: There is still a ton of adjusting to do and then get the gaps better.

Where did you source the clips you use to hold your sheet metal together as you tack in?

Re: Project "Full Circle" 66 C10 (continued)
You can get them here- http://www.eastwood.com/intergrip-pa...-set-of-4.html
or most other welding / fab supply places. "panel clamps" or "butt weld clamps". |

More progress. Cut the bedsides down, fixing a bunch of rust and dents.
I soaked the bed end pieces in Evapo-rust. It's a water based rust remover and worked great. After rinsing in soap and water, I used Eastwood internal frame coating to coat the insides afterward. Since it's water based, if you don't introduce any chemicals you can just dump it out. |

Hammer and dolly work. It's finally starting to come together.
I had small discs laser cut so I can fill the trim holes. I drilled them out with a step drill, put tape behind the hole to hold them just below flush and tacked them in. |

Quick update. I've been buying some parts and should have the bed all together very soon. In the meantime, some eye candy.

Some updates. A friend tig welded the bed seams with silicon bronze, then my father and I did lots of hammer and dolly work to fix some oil canning and dents.
My father bought a metal shrinking disc kit which works to heat up stretched areas and then when sprayed with water it will shrink the area back down. It's a lot easier to control than a torch. There is still a bunch more metal work to do before bondo but its getting there. |
Re: Project "Full Circle" 66 C10 (continued)

We spent a lot of time fixing the contour of one of the bedsides that was pushed in. I made a form with (2) 2x4s to match the curve of the fender and then made a "J" shaped hammer to reach up under the inner fender part. The bedside was laid face down against the form and hammered to stretch the metal against the form. It worked really well.
I have some more hammer work to do and then I should be ready to assemble the bed and sling some bondo. |
Re: Project "Full Circle" 66 C10 (continued)
Nice work! Didn’t just wanna fill it with bondo?

The bed and cab are together for the first time in over 20 years! I just found out that my father bought this truck the year I was born and got it on the road the year my brother was born.
Progress... |

Finally an update- sand and sandblasted, epoxy primed. The bottom is seam sealed and Lizard Skin ceramic coated and I used their topcoat over that.
Really happy to have the rust repair done on this !! |
