Went to a Bigger Blazer

1 Attachment(s)
So my biggest blazer to date landed at the shop the other night.

Did some trading/swaping with another board member grendel. (thanks John)
He built this monster, one ton running gear, cross over steering, 4whl disc brakes, twin t-cases, built turbo 400...the list goes on and on. :c2:
Currently sitting on 38's w/5:13 final gear ratio.

Guess it's time to run some trails with it. :D

Here's one pic, just goofing on a small dirt hill.

:phat:

meathead95 08-17-2005 05:44 PM

that sounds like one hell of a truck

Medicanman71 08-17-2005 06:11 PM

sweeeeet

FormerMember 08-17-2005 08:40 PM

Did you install that shifter?

BTW, final gear ratio in low/low/low is:

2.48 (transmission)x2 (torque converter)x2 (t-case one)x 2 (t-case two)x 5.13 (axle R+P)= 101.7792

Considered to be about perfect for crawl ratio with an automatic.

Of course, you can switch off anyone one of those, but the 5.13.

jamie72 08-17-2005 10:25 PM

sweet ride... :metal:

FormerMember 08-17-2005 10:53 PM

I already miss it.

2wdBlazer 08-17-2005 10:55 PM

People are going to start having tire envy with us big boys. Sweet ride!!

71RestoRod 08-18-2005 01:32 AM

Congrats, Kurt!

... but I'm going to have to call 'Poser Pic' on that one! :metal:

donkey69 08-18-2005 01:35 AM

Nice truck! Might be a greenhorn question, but how does a guy tie in the second transfer case? Congrats- :bowtie:

:haha: total poser pic :haha:
Kids liked it though.
Gave each one a ride in it which of course included climbing the poser bump. ;)

Have a couple odds and ends to clean up before I can wheel it but then I'll take it out and get happy.

P/O (grendel) kept the gauge cluster of after market goodies
(it was cool/worth keeping) so I need to send him back the wires/fittings to go with those and install another harness/guage set.

Two transfer case's ---help me with what, how and why that works??

steve_kibbe 08-18-2005 10:09 AM

the doubler, or two transfer cases uses the range box from a np 203 with the chain portion removed, and a custom made plate bolted to the back, then a np 205 is coupled to the back of the plate. A np 203 has a 2.01:1 low range, and the np 205 has a 1.96:1. When both the the range box from the np 203, and the np 205 are in low range, you have essentially a 4:1 low range. This is better for rock crawling and so on.

steve_kibbe 08-18-2005 10:11 AM

this is what it looks like

and used this kind of plate

Been messing with the little/detail stuff some.
Changed out the grille while I was at it.

To be able to go play, I still need to install the B&M shifter and do some final welding.
Need to install a wiring harnes also.
Course having it licensed would be a good idea too...

French, the doubler's pretty cool...talk about having a low gear!

Licensed/inspected and insured. :ww:

Planning a shake down run this weekend.

Changed out the 38.5 super swamper for a set of 37" radial SSR's.
Weld wheels are narrower also, trying to tuck the meats in as much as possible to avoid tickets.

Original cluster
Complete original wiring harness
72 tilt column
Lokar column cable shift conversion
Made a new/different tranny cover for the triple sticks

Everything works and functions correctly even, imagine that

Here's the way it will stay for awhile.

Hey Kurt, it's looking good. You must not work for a living for you to be able to get things done so quickly, or no wife, no kids...LOL!!

Got it all, wife, three kids and a business to run.
My wife graciously gives me "extra" time when it's available.
Kids help me wrench when their in the mood as well.
