Where's The Love?
I was just thinking how it seems the focus in this forum is mostly on 67-72 and 73-87 diecast. As far as Hot Wheels goes, there are '56 Flashsider (the longest running Chevy truck they do), the '52 Chevy, La Troca, and even the Custom '62 is barely mentioned. In another thread recently a fellow member made it known he knew very little of the '62's existence. Another member made it known that there are a dozen or so versions out there. I started this thread to help spread the word on what there is out there to be looking for, if you are a true early Chevy/GMC truck fanatical collector like me. I just finally bought the 4th of July '62, which was a limited edition. What sparked this off was looking at a very limited edition La Troca (Advance Design w/skirts & visor) made for an event...Main Street USA Run (Rt66). I'll have to gather up some pictures to share

Ooooo k, if you want, I will. That La Troca from the Main St, USA event won't look like much cuz it's in the package. You know how us nerdy collector types are about quote: "in the package". YOU TOOK IT OUT???
I'll get pictures of that in the morning, but for now here are a couple of the others...and I thought of many I didn't mention. There's a Custom 52 Chevy that's an ice cream truck (but only silly graphics so far,). then there are two panels, a Task Master type and a early 60s GMC. There was the earlier square body shortbed 4wd and a Blazer...or was it a Jimmy? Oh yeah, the '70 Blazer (2wd) has been in only upscale editions (rel rider wheels). No dollar toy versions of that one |

Re: Where's The Love?
Those are pretty cool. I've never collected these, I'll have to start watching for them. Thanks for the pics

Re: Where's The Love?
It's something to do that is cheap! I spend more than the original buck, but not at the crazy high end
Here are links to the various GM trucks they do: https://www.google.com/search?q=hot+...iw=979&bih=468 https://www.google.com/search?q=hot+...iw=979&bih=468 https://www.google.com/search?q=hot+...iw=979&bih=468 https://www.google.com/search?q=hot+...iw=979&bih=468 https://www.google.com/search?q=hot+...iw=979&bih=468 https://www.google.com/search?q=hot+...iw=979&bih=468 https://www.google.com/search?q=hotw...iw=979&bih=468 |

Re: Where's The Love?
You have some cool trucks Tim. I'm going to start watching for the trucks when I'm at the store.

Re: Where's The Love?
I went on a binge after Carlisle Trucks. I have bought 8 La Trocas, a few 56 Flashsiders, the blue Holley Custom '62, and baby blue Power Plower. I also got the new black '83 SWB 4wd and the rescue truck in same series.

Re: Where's The Love?
... and more. Oy!

Re: Where's The Love?
Tim, I think this is called an addiction. Do we need an intervention . .....LOL...Or is it a investment. ...ah heck it's fun..
|
Re: Where's The Love?
I only have a couple La Trocas I need. I'll start working on the '52 Chevy P/U and the '83 Silverado. I only have a couple versions of the '83. I have one other version coming. I get caught up in the collecting thing for sure. But, I am selective. I don't have to have them all.

There's a new flat blue '52 Chevy showing up in multi-packs. I picked up this 20-pack at Toys R Us last week, but I just saw this same truck yesterday in a 9-pack at Wal-Mart. It has the 2015 tampo design and is packed with other 2016 cars, so I'm not sure if this will be a multi-pack exclusive or not, but I'm betting it probably will be.

Re: Where's The Love?
Probably will be. I guess the wheels are dark grey. Looks decent. I'm glad they didn't mess it up with "colorful" wheels which seems to be the trend with HW lately. I still think that version is screaming for chrome wheels.
|
Re: Where's The Love?
Yeah. They're dark gray 5-spoke wheels. I think it looks good. I'm a bit biased since it's blue, but it's a good looking truck. I bought two so I could open one. I'll have to get some good pics of the loose truck.

Re: Where's The Love?
It looks good. Would look even better with chrome wheels and grille.
|
Re: Where's The Love?
I like the gray wheels and black base. It's different. Chrome is too easy.

Re: Where's The Love?
I liked it first time I saw it and like it more every time I look at it here. I need to be getting one

The '52 has been found in 3-packs, so if you're not wanting to spend the money on 9- or 20-packs to get it, you can keep your eyes peeled.

Re: Where's The Love?
That's good to know. I have a lot of loose cars I never wanted just to get the one I did want.

I now have that light blue '52. I just went on a '52 Chevy kick and bought 3 colors of the "Classics", a Treasure Hunt, and a really sweet custom job

Back to the top with this thread. Anybody into these other years? Have anything interesting to share? Anything not interesting? To be honest, I'm not sure I do. I did just buy a couple '18 issue Custom 62s... yellow and one of those new purple flame ones with chrome Real Riders

Re: Where's The Love?
Does anyone know if the chassis are the same under the '52 pickup and the '52 ice cream truck? I never bought an ice cream truck. I need to buy one for a custom version I want to do. Then I could find out. Just wondering if anyone knew

Re: Where's The Love?
Thanks. I have wondered for a while, mostly because the ice cream trucks come with Real Riders, but asked without really looking for differences. Silly internet laziness .
I haven't cared for any of the ice cream trucks yet. Have they ever made an ice cream one? Oh yeah, Carvel. But they really should do a Good Humor or just generic real ice cream truck. That was my custom idea, paint one white and make Good Humor tmpos. I mean duh, seems so obvious. |
