Little Body Work on the Blazer/Tub
5 Attachment(s)
Thought I'd share some pics of one of the most 'rust free' tubs I've ever seen.
Unfourtunately, this clean blazer got a little bent up once upon a time. :( So now it's time to fix it. :gi: The pics pretty much say it all. The first set show's where I started to where I got over the weekend. At least it didn't get sent to the crusher. |

These pics show just how rust free this thing is. Amazing for a 35 year old body. Yeah, I know the inner rocker has some surface rust but come-on... :hm:  |

Took a weekend and drove out to Michigan. :D It's not a new one, there's no such thing yet. Found it through the board. :metal: |

I have an nos bedside does that count as new?   |
Very nice!!! Is this going to be the trail rig? With sheetmetal that nice, it would make a good driver. Do you have a color picked out yet? :bowtie:
|

NOS = new anyday. donkey69, nope, not a trail rig, no chance. |

It's good to see progress on that tub. You have a talent to do great work!
|
Is that color medium bronze?? Looks like the same color as my 70 K5. Nice bodywork. Does anyone repro just the flange that the sill plate wraps over? Thats the only rust on mine, from muddy boots on a ranch. I even pulled the inner fender with a 3/8 ratchet, no broken bolts or stripped nuts. Oh yeah, are your armrests on the tan seat keepers?
|
Looks VERY nice
|
What's the best way to remove the outer rocker? I wish I could find a bed side as nice as that :(

Quarter's On

After sandblasting the entire quarter, inside and out it was time for the metal etching primer and after that, the epoxy primer.
Cleaned up and primered the inner rocker while I was at it. Got both sides completed by Sunday. Here's the new rust free quarter during the test fit. :) Still need to prime the area of the bed where the welds to the bedsides have been ground down and cleaned up. |
So Kurt, when ya coming back down to help me with mine
|
Looks like its getting there..
|
Looking good with the progress you've made so far. Are you going blue or the original bronze color?
|
Sweet, keep the pics coming!

Had some detail work to do on the area that still wasn't prepped, then it was bolt it together!
You know how that works... It took hours to do it right. So anyway, got it bolted into place and the tail gate installed too. :) I reused all the original bolts, they were still that nice. |
amazing.

Clear as Mud
Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, it's spoken for. As in sold. [EDIT] 5/06/05 STILL FOR SALE. ;) It's the best original tub I'll probably ever see. Heading south on June 17th, anybody need anything? Delivering the tub and picking up my panel on the way home. |

How far south, hey a Guy can dream can't he  |
Quote:
You know if I were closer I'd stop in. |
Quote:
 Me too. Need to strike the "it's sold" post, didn't work out. Now I gotta decide all over again...Do I keep it? or Do I sell it? :hmm:  |
Wow Kurt! you work fast! Nice......
|
What happened to the cowl/dash/windshield frame areas? It's there in the earlier pics but gone in the later pictures.
