1967 GMC Pickup - Museum Quality

Hello all, I have lurked here for a little while and checked out some great trucks and suburbans. I have been meaning to get pictures of my Dad's GMC pickup. 32 original miles. I hope you all enjoy it . :)

Unreal! I believe you but this sure is unbelievable. How the heck does someone never drive a new vehicle? I thought the same when I saw Sting Rays with dealer mats and window stickers. I sure ain't THAT guy. it's mighty odd that it has painted hubcaps, side trim, and single mirror on a Custom with nice options. If he decides to part it out, I'd be interested in...

Re: 1967 GMC Pickup - Museum Quality

Thanks for the interest everyone. Basically the backstory is that my Grandfather back in 66 had his old farm truck breakdown so he decided to go get a new one which is this truck I have posted. With Grandpa being from depression days he drove the new truck back with parts to fix his old truck. So now the old truck is fixed and he continued to use that so he parked the new one back in one of his barns. My Grandfather was quite the packrat and I think eventually he forgot it was back there as it was stuffed behind some old tractors and farm equipment. It was eventually pulled out of the barn by my Dad and Grandfather about 8-10 years ago. My Dad took it to his place and got it shined back up and running again. The tank had to be pulled and cleaned since it had original gas in it and the carb was very rough so he had to have it cleaned up by a GM shop. The GM boxes that are on the passenger floor is the radio and antenae as I guess they were not installed directly back then by the factory. I could be wrong on that though.

Uh oh...... There's a parking ticket on the windshield. Lol
This truck is a GREAT example of how the interior is supposed to look. Especially the gauge cluster and the seat from the pics so far. What's the drive train?

That's super nice. Where did your dad get it? Was it his dad's?

Re: 1967 GMC Pickup - Museum Quality

That's a great story, it's neat to see a truck like that and get the story too.
The radio and antenna were installed from the factory, but that one came to the dealer without them on the order sheet when the dealer ordered the truck. Your grandpa liked the truck, but wanted the radio, so the dealer included the radio and antenna. Your grandfather probably saved a few bucks by telling them he would install the radio and antenna himself.

True survivor- I'm sure someone out there would pay big money for a chance to own such a low mile truck. Very cool!

Not to hijack the thread but my uncle bought one of those 750hp Corvettes, had it put on a trailer. Delivered to his garage and rolled into a stall. That was two or three years ago. Still sitting in the same spot with 0 miles on it.

amazing.. I can understand why you would hold back on posting it. I personally don't know that I would post it to keep the crazies from coming out of the woodworks trying to buy it from you.

That is awesome ! A true time capsule .I wonder how many miles the truck he went to get parts for ended up having on it .
Museum comes to mind on this one , I would almost put it right back where it was found and bring out again in 40 years .

Peace

Re: 1967 GMC Pickup - Museum Quality

That is really good looking "Piece of Garage Art" that looks a lot like a truck.

No disrespect meant.

It's beautiful and should be in a Museum somewhere that lots of people can see it cause it "never was used as a truck and never should/would be given it's rarity and condition".

At this stage any miles or scratches would significantly effect it so driving it is out of the question. Right?

1967gmckid 03-27-2015 09:44 AM

Re: 1967 GMC Pickup - Museum Quality

Garage art is exactly what it is at this point. I know my Dad has mentioned about getting it into a Museum on loan at some point. I think if he ever sold the truck it would have to go a place with a larger collection that gets showed.

Its kind of hard to price something like this due to its rarity so even if it was for sale it would be hard to find an actual value. I always thought it would be neat to see it go through a Barrett or Mecum auction so the truck could be a celebrity on TV....LOL

I do have a picture of it when it got pulled from the barn and shows it on the flatbed with all of its 40+ years of its dirt and grime on it. I will have to find that and post it.

Really neat truck, I've never seen a instrument cluster that looked like that. So clean.:metal:

I wouldn't sell the truck unless someone offered me a life-changing amount of money for it.

Unfortunately they would probably put it on air bags with 24" rims and an LS motor.
