Looking for build name?
Some of you may have been following along in my not so rust free Blazer. I ended up keeping it and am going for broke (no really I am going to be broke).
Anyone have any suggestions for a build name? Due to disability I am having to pay for 90% of the work. I purchased an LS3/4L70 GM connect and cruise package. https://i.postimg.cc/3xBSnRNW/LS3.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/25SHJDLG/4L70.jpg Truck shop gas tank with tanks Inc. fuel pump I installed. https://i.postimg.cc/T1TwwqW1/Fuel-fill.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/mgm3v8sx/Tanks-...nstalled-2.jpg Here is how the Blazer looks today. https://i.postimg.cc/Bny3VnnY/frame.jpg Frame, Tin Works trailing arm crossmember and engine stands, engine cradle and trailing arms are going out to be powder coated satin black. Not 100% sure if I will go to aftermarket upper and lower control arms or powder coat my stock ones. That can be done later. I want to drive it a bit and see how it drives? Willwood brakes As low in the rear with 2" drop blocks and whatever springs needed for no C notch, 2 inch front spindle drop and whatever coils will make it level. Front and rear sway bars QA1? Brakes booster will be a hydratech hydroboost. It was supposed to take 60 days and just found out today it will be at least another 3-4 weeks. In the end this is the color I want (close to it) with hopefully a 1968 front clip (think I have one lined up, just need a core support) but have not seen it yet? without the chrome trim on the front. https://i.postimg.cc/8CBqkmjj/han2-low.jpg Darker than this? https://i.postimg.cc/cC6jmqTn/sweet-blue-blazer.jpg |

Night and day sounds good, Hmmm. Really want something easy, 1 word. Lazarus maybe changed to Blazeruss/BlazerSS? I don't know. Its been progressing well. First real snag today. Gas tank sits too high with the Tanks Inc fuel pump assembly. And my factory LS3 exhaust manifolds didn't fit. The Holley/Hooker Blackheart manifolds look and fit nice. Spend good money on a connect and cruise and you have to throw away the water pump, exhaust manifolds, and oil pan. They know these are going in swap vehicles why not let us order with the oil pan and front drive we want? |

I think you might have named it......Overkill

Re: Looking for build name?
Do you know how much of a pain it is to safety wire bolts down in a valley? Not as neat as I would have liked and my OCD is killing me with the one set that I installed backwards. It is functional and nobody will see it. I still have 1 to do.

Re: Looking for build name?
No big progress news. He had to finish up a couple of smaller projects and I do not have a problem with that. Body and paint guy won't be ready for 3 months or so.
The underneath of the tub is getting coated. Its not really an undercoating but will look better than the old oily undercoating is there. Then finish the brakes and install the tires and wheels. It "should be a roller with the body mounted back to the frame permanently by the end of the week? Hydroboost should be in on Wednesday. After this week it will be wiring, driveshaft, gauges? Kind of looks good in there? https://i.postimg.cc/xT8mPTN2/LS3_en...front_view.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/yYGZp40S/LS3_pa...engine_bay.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/VsDMMb6g/LS3_en...ivers_side.jpg |

Re: Looking for build name?
For the name.... 'Rusty' would work for me & be a good segue into the origins of the name.
Nice stuff for the chassis. I see you went w/the QA1 front arms/suspension & rear set-up. RedHead steering box. The TinWorks LS swap items & x-members. Holley Mid-Mount accessory set-up. Not quite a year later & very nice foundation. |
