I Picked This Up Yesterday

Since I sold the Suburban I had some money burning a hole in my pocket… It’s a ’67 Panel that originally had a 6 cyl and three on the tree. It has some mods but I’m good with that. I’m thinking a 383 and 700r4 for a driveline and I have a complete air ride system that I have been saving for the “right” truck. I think this is it…. LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Awesome Loc Doc! Can't wait to see the build progress.
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Looks like someone else started that project first
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Very cool!! Looks like the reverse lights have been shaved. Looks good.

Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Thanks guys, I have already started tinkering on it. I have a completely rebuilt '76 front cross member with dropped spindles I have decided to put under it.

Nice find, it'll cool to watch this one
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Cool panel!
Looks like it has some 6- lug 15x8 rear wheels also. |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Almost bought a 4wd 70 panel a few days ago, just didn't fly with the wife having a few projects in the yard already. To bad for me, that is a cool panel you picked up.
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
I know you will make it good, but I hope you put some bumpers on it =)
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Kind of nice and smooth without the bumpers though.
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Looks good, Leon. I suppose now you'll be spending all your time in the shop instead of on here.
It does look nice without the bumpers. |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Cool panel! Cant wait to see how it progresses.
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday

Thanks for the compliments gents, I am going to work on it some today. I didn't even notice the wheels Keith, glad you mentioned it. Mark, I think the rolled pans would have to be removed to do that, but I may put some old school Hot Rod nerf bars on it. Something like on the '32 in the picture might look good. We'll see Tinker, you need to get out more...:) LockDoc |

Well, I got the front cross member swapped out today. It's really easy with no engine and trans in it.... It is completely rebuilt but the guy I got it from had it sitting outside for a while... I think I am going to put 6 lug rotors on it so I didn't worry about the rust for now. LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
BTW that looks to be a nice panel most were beat to death! Have fun !

2 problems here. First you can't post a wanted to buy unless you are a subscribing member. ($15 or $25 a year) Second, 250 I6 stands will not fit a 292. The 292 stands are different and can be hard to find. Your best bet would be to become a subscribing member (Click on the word "Subscribe" in the menu bar at the top of this page for info) then post a "wanted to buy" on the parts for sale board. Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Looking good Leon, Your getting right at it too!!!
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
very nice! I'm not diggin the roll pans and shaved reverse lights, glad to hear you're gonna change that. Keep us updated!

I'm not sure where you read that I was going to change the rolled pans and lights. I replied to CG that the rolled pans would have to be removed to put bumpers on it but I don't plan on doing that. I kind of like it the way it is, but I'm old school that way.....;) LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
looks like you got somebody elses toy nice find.

I thought I would post a pic of the tires I got with the Panel. I hope I have enough horsepower to turn them over... I started digging out parts I have had stashed, waiting for the right project to come along. I set the buckets in to check the fit and it looks like they will work great. They are the Dodge buckets. I will use the tilt and get a new bezel for the tach cluster. I also have a complete power brake setup and a complete power steering unit with pump and brackets for it. LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Some really nice upgrades you have there ,cant wait to see it all come together ,staying tuned in .
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
I like the Dodge bucket setup, is that some kind of below dash a/c unit.

Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday

Thanks guys. I haven't looked for a tag on the under dash air but it does have a brand new Sanden compressor hooked to it. PO said it worked when he was driving it and I have no reason to doubt him..... LockDoc |

OK, thanks. I guess I won't have to worry about the 2nd or 3rd seat...:).. I know I could still add them but I don't plan on it. LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Leon, you must have a honey hole somewhere, like someone's favorite hunting/fishing spot with all the big ones hiding, you find the best trucks out there, in Iowa of all places, reading on here all the time you hear about the stuff in the Pacific Northwest, well them guys have nothing on your honey hole!
