WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
4 Attachment(s)
Okay guys, I hope I didn't post this in the wrong place but here we go... I was cruising around the state for work, and normally I wouldn't stop, but I just had too. I pull up to a small farm (somewhere in MO) and go up to the door as I just noticed the owner's pulled in. I ask them about the weather, how farming is going, and eventually get to... the SWB truck in the field. :D Come to find out, the owner (the gentleman I'm talking with) bought this truck back in '67 and used the for his farming business. This is a one owner truck, all there, minus the side moldings. As you can tell from the pics below, there is some rust issues, as well as dents from it's hard life as a work truck. I think this would be one of the coolest patina trucks on the road. It still has the factory I6, but looks as though it hasn't moved in years. He shot me a price which I think is a little high, but I mainly wanted to catch everyone's opinion of the truck. I will release what he wanted for the truck, and what he expects to receive for scrap value. I think I can shoot him a lower price (above scrap) and end up buying the truck. And by the way... it has original logo'd doors!!! Anyway, here are some pics to help with you quote...

Hey Nate,... PM me sometime,... I want that truck if you don't. (price pending.)

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
I would say $500 and a 12 pack of beer or bottle of whiskey would be fair.

Okay guys... I was your honest no BS assessment of this truck. I know that there is a lot of rust/dent/ding issues with this truck, but I was blown away that is wasn't any worse than it is. I figured that as being used as a farm business truck, the fertilizer would have rust this thing to the ground! |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
I was thinking $400-$500 should get it in that shape.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Known dents....
Both bedsides Passenger front fender Both doors Known rust issues... Cab (floor/above window/cab corners...) |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Still interested.

ttt guys... :D

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
$300.00-400.00 But I would be very careful about offering a 12 pack or booze with it.The Bible belt extends a long way in the sticks and it might kill the deal.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
ohhhhhh Nate!!! Your wife would KILL you!! you had better sell it to Keith, or me! wait a minute, my wife would kill me too!!!
nice patina. it's aCST with decent options for a 67. I'm with Panel and Grimss. $300 to $500. Is the engine free? what I like about it, is that is BONE stock with all the stock parts still there. even the air cleaner is still there. heck, you could double or triple your money just by parting it. you'll have to tell me where that's at. it looks hauntingly familiar..... |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
I would offer him 400.00...that dont go I would offer 500.00. Then ask if the critters living in the duct work and heater box is included! You know there has to be some.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
I guess i'll be the first neg here. But you asked for the truth... that truck is a parts truck that wouldn't even provide many parts. $1500- $2500 should get you a solid truck to start with, & put you thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours ahead in the long run.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
350.00 pushing 400.00 tops. I know it has cool "patina" but in all reality it's still a rusty truck.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Nate,... I'm out. Patina fever is over. Sell it to tcb-1. Like I need another project anyway,...
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Was it just me or did it look like the front fender had a side marker light on it? You sure it's a '67, or a '68 with a '67 bed on it?
|

I think $500 would be an OK price. I would shoot for lower though. |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Nice catch Dan... now that I look at the pics a little closer, the rear bed side looks the same. Maybe they trashed the driver's side in '67 and had it in the shop by '68.
Guys, I want your brutal opinions on this truck, so don't worry if they are negative. Thank you for your feedback jeffspower! The truck isn't a complete lost cause, as there are a lot of great parts still attached to it. I'm planning on giving the guy a call tomorrow, and we'll see what happens. |

Ya it has side markers but they look like the cheap add on reflector type to me. 500 bucks is what I paid for mine from Randy that looks very similar to that one:lol:
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Looks like a '68 camaro side marker.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)

BINGO! that's exactly what they look like. maybe ask if he has a 68 Camaro out back as well! |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
350-650 here.
Pretty bad rust.... |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
ksjh1316, your's looks a little more straighter...
Of course all vehicles have some type of sentimental attachment to their family, so I think they are looking at this truck as having owned it since they bought it brand new, and it was a part of their everyday life. But... eventually you need to realize that it's just rusting away! For those in MO, or if you've ever been through Vienna, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. There's a '67 or '68, my mind left me, that is sitting in front of a shop, patina look w/ bed logos, and the guy is going to get to it... yeah right!!! |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
You are right but that one hasnt burned inside the cab:devil::lol:
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
uh... true!
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
With all the rust, less than $500. Could be cool, but the cab is a total loss and the bedsides are pretty beat. I wonder if the frame may be hurt after all those years working on the farm.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
neat
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
I think 500 is more then enough in its current condition. Myself I think more like 3ish might go 4 if your already attached.
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
It`s a wonderful old gem of a truck and worth all the effort to restore. But,it`s just haulit off material if you ask me.I`d give him a C-note just because it`s better than nothing. It`s worth more crushed, but it costs money and is work to haul there. So,for $100 or nothing you`re saving him the trouble.`Course,he prolly doesn`t mind letting it sit.Guys are paying as much as $200 to haul junk vehicles off around here.If he`s aware of high scrap value,I`d go that much. The truck needs "everything".
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Probably worth $500 in scrap metal price, hold on to it and it is $800 next year!
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Special-K has a good point...
The problem is these folks sometimes think that they have a solid gold rust bucket sitting there...... |
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
dude how much does he want for that gas bottle in the back? i need one of those bad!!! :)
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Get a fresh 350 engine and transmission/drivetrain n u rollin! The light fixtures should be ez! PATINA is in!!!
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
How much did the guy say he wanted?????
|
Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
While it is a cool looking truck, and a short bed, it does look like it needs all the sheet metal replaced. It will probably scrap for about $300-350. Looks like too much work if you ask me. You asked for opinions!!!
It would be cool to just get it running and driving with the patina look though!!! Ok, ok, How much?????? |
