OMG Honda door weatherstripping fits perfect no cutting required !!

I have seen a few threads where the 2006-11 2 door Honda door weatherstripping fits the 66 and earlier trucks but haven't seen many on the 67-72 trucks. So I went to lacal u-pull it today and picked up a really nice set from a 09' 2 dr civic they cost me $21.50 for both sides.I just installed them and the fit perfect,GM couldn't of designed them any better. When I purchased truck it came with a new set of LMC seals installed and doors never closed right even after many adjustments.Doors close perfect now with no effort and doesn't feel like windows will shatter anymore from being slammed. This is probably one of the easiest upgrades you can make.

I can see it now, junkyards will have a run on Honda w/strip and prices will shoot up....

Great tip, thanks for passing it along. I didn't notice the seam where it joins -- still under the door sill?

Dodge Dakota seals from 86-96 fit like a glove too. I imagine there are many clip on seals that will fit.

Re: OMG Honda door weatherstripping fits perfect no cutting required !!

Stocker I was thinking the same thing and yeah they join on bottom by sill plate.
Leddzepp I had been looking for a pair of those for awhile but every time I found one seals were shot I guess because those trucks are all at least 20 years old now.Doesn't seem like 20+ years since dakotas have been on the road.

Great tip, including the baby powder. Clip-on I take it.............And how about those corners, looks just right.

On a side, your cab looks real familiar. Difference being my ochre cab is in off-mode, and I'm getting "perturbed" with my brother who can't seem to return my calls, the (*^()^ ;). I'd like to pull it off the frame tomorrow. It's holding up progress and a month late already. :chevy:

Hi Tony
Yeah there push on and if you need them to fit tighter just squeeze with your fingers before you install them.I almost had this truck back together then tore it apart again.Installing a LS3/4L85E.

At least the second time around is much simpler. That's going to be nice.

Wow, just picked up a 71 truck that had new weather stripping in it sometime ago after it was repainted and you have to slam the doors. I think you just solved my problem. I'll be looking into this as a solution. Thanks. Looks great.

This is some good info. I love it when you can use Orem parts and save some cash on conversion parts

Re: OMG Honda door weatherstripping fits perfect no cutting required !!

I'm watching this thread with great interest. I restored a '66 and had to slam the doors to get them to close with the new weatherstrip. These were the doors that came on that cab from the factory. People said it would get better with time, but it still seems like too much.

Now here I am with my '67 and it's the same thing. Factory doors and cab that used to close very easily are a bear now. Some people suggest bending the flange that the weatherstrip attaches to, but I have been hesitant. It seems to me that the weatherstrip is the problem.

Re: OMG Honda door weatherstripping fits perfect no cutting required !!

A friend of mine used weatherstripping from a 2013 Ram standard cab truck and it worked great. He said the holes in the weatherstrip were there to allow the doors to close easier. I'm wondering if drilling holes into my Precision weatherstrips would make them close easier?

Good to know about this. My truck has the original gaskets. As far as the gaskets being on the ground, there is no end to what people will ruin just for kicks. Sometimes people just stink.

For anyone interested there are three 06-11 Honda 2dr civic door weatherstrippings in this car at LKQ U-Pull it in Davie/Ft.Lauderdale area.I think there are two pass and one driver side. They are decent quality no big rips or tears.

Just an FYI, we make the push on style specifically for the 60-66 and the 67-72 which have the correct radius molded corner. You can see our install video here:

I just got into repairing my rusty floors on my K5, when removing the weatherstrip the sheet metal seam came with it!!! lol floors are going back in now, weatherstrip will be in my near future...

Re: OMG Honda door weatherstripping fits perfect no cutting required !!

went to grab a set off a 2008 at LKQ today...the seal has an extra inner lip about 3/4 of an inch wide that covers the edge of the upholstery on the honda...not sure if it will touch the metal around the door frame ....looks like it may have 1/4 inch of standoff when installed....unfortunately the car i found had a light grey interior so this lip was grey 3/4 of the way around and black where it went under the rocker trim panel....so i guess these will only work if you find one with a black interior...at least it wasnt the only thing i went there for...

Awesome! This is just what I need as well. I don't recall which brand of glue in seals I used in my pickup. Would have much preferred push style.

You may as well drop a honda 4 cyl in too while your at it , and some back up cameras ,a bunch of led's and maybe drop it on bags mounted to a rusty frame and take it to the ground and hey why not hack out the dash and install a chinese stereo and amps with some boom speakers ? so you can't hear that fart can exhaust ? and hey some cheap aftermarket race seats would fit right in ?

I'll never understand the instant gratification generation ...:chevy:

Original style glue in door seals have worked for 50 years , Do they require more work to install than say honda door seals ? sure they do , But it's the way it was done when these trucks were new and there is something to be said about using the original method and type seal . If your not trying to stay with the original style and look ...Honda seals may be fine ? :chevy:

With this ideology you should still be using an points ignition... are you? Cause why fix something that's not broken, innovation and an open mind are useless right?

I found that "BMW 325i" door seals fit great, had to use a few to get the length I needed, but fit the pinch welds nicely, and fit under the sill plates as well.

Put a set of Honda door seals on my 72 GMC tonight- fit was near perfect, just had to cut it and trim about 1.5" from its total length. The doors shut with just the right amount of effort- no slamming necessary!
I had a set of Precision push-on seals prior and the doors were near impossible to shut. They are a quality product, just didn't fit right for me.
