How much gas mileage do you get???
 

I was wondering how much gas mileage people were getting with different engine/trans/gear ratio combos. Tell your MPG and your drivetrain please.

My 97 Chevy 4wd extra cab gets 14.5 MPG with the 350/4l60e/3.42 ratio rears (I think).

1969 C-10 short stepside, 350/350TH, 3.73 rear gears, 3700 lbs. I get 16 around town. Never checked the highway but the rear gear would hurt mileage for sure.

I reckon about equivalent of 14mpg.. 350SBC, TH400 and I think that's a stock rear end I'm running.
Bizzare thing is I get that ALL the time, towing 75mph everything!! is pretty weird....it only fluctuates by about 1MPG kinda weird I think...
but there ya go....

307/350 stock rear (3.73?) and a 2BB carb. I only get 12MPG. Hmmmm. Maybe I need to rebuild tha carb?

1.6L 4 speed manual trans with a 3.42 rear axle, getting 42 miles per gallon..... Whoops that was my chevette I use to have :lol: God I am missing that mileage now.

my 67 shorty with semi modified 355ci, 3 spped manual, 3.73 rear... 15mpg if your really sweet on the right petal..

my 4x4 s10 with a 2.8 v6, 5 speed, and 3.73 rear end gets about 24-26 when i am driving back and forth from school and i get between 20-22 when i am at home driving to work

uk72step, I had a 69 4wd blazer years ago and I put the torker 2 cam in and it got 11 MPG no matter what you did. Yes, it's wierd.

I've got a 68 step SWB w/L6 250 with a 1bbl carb and 3 on the tree. I get ~15-16MPG on the highway from what I can tell (65-70MPH). Not sure about city miles. The truck has plenty of 'pep', but I want to put something bigger in it. Not thinking as big as an LS1 or LT1 - more like the 4.8L V8 vortec engine that was in my '03 Sierra. I got 19-21 MPG highway with aftermarket intake and one of those hypertech programmer things.

71 1 Ton Longhorn, 402, 700R4, 4:10 or 4:11 rear gear. 11MPG uphill, downhill, empty, full, towing or not. 11 MPG in town or highway..........but, man, can that thing pull my water trailer uphill! I get asked all the time what it has in it, cuz I pass everybody going up the hill.

1972 C20 4:10 dana 60 rear 700R4 trans can't remember tire size but they are at least 33" 400 hp 396 she gets about 5 mpg. 1986 K10 10 bolt 3:08 rears 700R4 trans stock 305 gets about 10 mpg...

With the gate down I can squeeze out 14MPG

72 4x4, stock 95 350 with quadrajet, 350 trans, 31" tires, 3.43? rear end, 11 MPG, 12 with the tailgate down. city & highway for both. but i know i am running rich, just havent taken the time to adjust.

2001 2500HD 8.1 6 speed 4.10-12mpg 2000 Tahoe 5.3 16-17mpg 92 f-250 460 auto (short trips only) 5mpg...what a gas hog

355/350 buit with a dana 60 4:10 rear gear around 5-7 but thats with a 17 year old foot and duel 450 holleys :no: but during those couple miles she hauls ass!! :metal:

70 CST 383 TH350 GV overdrive 3:07 gears.....around 15 in town. Don't know on highway.

70 C20 454 TH400 - best so far 10.4 (WOW!)

49 CJ2a Jeep - 18-19 MPG

2002 VW TDI Beetle, 51 MPG highway, average 44 city.

VW can make high mileage claims for their cars because you don't have to buy fuel for them when they are sitting in the service bay! :whine:

My '71 with a 350/350 and 3:73's out back, it gets 12 no matter what I'm doing. The '97 pointiac grand prix GTP that I bought two weeks ago get around 20 in town and 26 on the highway, and its supercharged.

'71 4x4 LWB, 350 V-8 with 2bbl Rottenchester, stump pullin' 4 speed and 4:11 gears. 31x10.50x15's, keep it at about 60 and can squeeze out 11+ on a good day. Push it to 70-75 and watch the gas needle move. :(

Man, after reading all of these posts the question should have been, gas mileage, whats that???

My 96 350/4l60e 3.42 31x10.50-15, 2wd...average 13-15 around town (depends on foot). Highway around 17-18 @ 70-75.

70 with the 250 3 speed, I think 3.73 probably around 11. But it is not driven much and it takes a while to get it untempermental (long warmups)

My 72 C20 402BB gets about 11 MPG down hill , 7 MPG up hill, and around 9MPG everywhere else.

'67 SWB / ZZ4 / 700R4 / 4:10's / 17.7 mpg

'97 BURB / 454 / 4L80E / 4:10's / 11 mpg

'89 P30 24ft Class "C" RV / 350 / TH400 / 11 mpg

'90 Honda Gold Wing / 1500cc / 5 spd / 39-45 mpg

'67 C20, 406/SM420, recently rebuilt M4MC QuadraJet, 4.10 = 8 city, 14 highway.

(before the clutch failed & some former friends of mine shot out ALL the glass)
'69 IH Loadstar 1703, 345/NP435, some Holley crow-sucking 2bbl, 2spd rear end (don't know the ratios) = 3 city 6 highway

WOW, some of these numbers are baaaad. 72 customcamper, 5 mpg!!!! It must haul ass though. It's good to see these different combos and how they effect mileage. I also have a 70 GMC 402/T400, never checked the mileage, but you can watch the gauge drop while driving.

Stock 350 (odometers rolled over many times) --- Th350 -- 3.42 Posi 11-14 mpg

Last summer when I still had 3.07's out back - i pulled 16 mpg

Q-jet could stand to be cleaned up and possibly rebuilt

I can usually pass about 2 gas stations before I have to refuel...;) With a 350/T350/3.73 gear and a medium heavy foot, I can go back & forth to work 5x's a week plus some little erands and it cost's me $20-25..00

Yeah she passes just about everything in town but a gas pump...LOL

70 shortstep with a 250 bored .40 over, Clifford intake, Holley 390 4 Barrel, ported head, RV type cam, 9.0 to 1 compression, header into dual exhaust, 3 spd and 3.73's so far I've gotten about 10 mpg. The carb still has a stumble when just speeding up from a steady cruise, so I hope to improve a couple of mpg.

67 C-30, 292 L6, 4 speed, 514 gears, Don't know but it can't be too good with those gears!! Hoping to get 20+ with the 6.2L Turbo Diesel I am installing!

67 C-50, 366, 4 speed, 2 speed rear, Have no idea on it either. Its not as bad you would think it was though.

Gas in Canada should be $100 / litre any day now ( 1 gallon = 4.5 ltr ) sure glad I sold my Beetle and bought a truck fro a project :confused:

Those are all that I have tested.

91 2.2L auto honda accord, 22mpg but just put the timing belt on right so hopefully more soon

How did you attain this mileage?

1968 SWB FLEET, 350 LT1/4L60E, 3:73- 20-22 MPG. I was surprised.
