A couple of update pics. Got the fenders and inners off and the interior stripped . Note the custom bondo body mount . Amazingly the front mounts are about the only rust in the cab floor . Enjoy , Bob

Re: Project Sweet 16

right on man. glad to see I wasn't the only one out getting stuff done in this nice weather. I even had the door open all night. doesn't sound like we'll have that luxury tomorrow though.

What are you planning to use to paint the frame? Is the cab coming off this one or are you going to try and do all the work with the cab on?

Something out of a rattle can ?? I'm on an extremely low budget right now.

i'm gonna leave the new one all together to install it under the truck . The old one is easier to store all together also takes up less space than in a bunch of pieces. This is my first crossmember swap so if i'm doing it wrong I will find out soon enough ;) Bob

Yeah she was untill I ripped the front crossmember off and loaded in the truck . It took a little explaining that the new one will be better !! She knows I will get it back together she has watched me take things apart and back together her whole life !! Bob P.S. I gotta get this one on rollers soon it's holding my 50th hostage and it's warmin' up outside;)

Sweet I cant wait to do a project with my son as he already is layin clam to the 72.

Re: Project Sweet 16

Keep the fire alive in your kids if they are interested in these trucks. My son wanted mine too but changed his mind when I told him of the upkeep. You almost have to do it yourself or it will cost you a bundle. Involve them in things such as changing gaskets and simple tune ups or they will loose interest as mine did. My fault I know.

Bob 68327 03-16-2009 09:09 PM

Re: Project Sweet 16

Doin my best to keep her involved and she makes me explain what every part is and what it does. She will be helping alot when the heavy work is done and when we rebuild the 283 ;) Bob

Re: Project Sweet 16

Not much progress i picked up the proper v-8 motor mounts and few other things waiting for some mud to dry up so i can get the donor frame home and install the new front suspension . We also removed the P.O. bondo from the cab supports and a hole in one kick panel should be an easy fix. More pics comming soon !!;)
