Here's a few pics and some info of my new project.

78 Crew
The plan right now is to do a shortbed dually conversion.
I already have the bed, i will start getting it ready for paint tomorrow.
I picked up a set of burb power doors with nice door panels.
I was suppose to also get the seats out of the same burb but the guy had left them outside for quite some time so i passed on them. Anybody have any seats?
I have a 5.3 and 4l60e ready to go in, i know i should do a 6.0 but i already have it. Beside i would really like to do a duramax or cummings later.

I will be doing a complete paint job and put all of the chrome back on. It's probably going back solid red or maybe red and silver/gray two tone.

I think i'm going to call it Clifford cause it sure is big and red.

Thanks.

I am going to start pulling the front clip off tonight. Then it will be time to fire up the pressure washer.

As i start to tear into this truck i am really amazed at how clean it is. I had planned on changing the seats out to later burb seats, but after looking more i think i can clean up these seats and make them look real nice.
I am still going to use the later doors and panels, mainly because i want the power windows and locks.

How did the normal "rot out" areas look on the truck? It seems veruy clean from the pictures.

It has one small spot of rust on the rear of the drivers fender and one spot on the right rocker under the rear door. Other than those two spots the truck is very clean. The radiator support and fender wells are perfect. The floors have no rust in them and still has what appears to be the original carpet and seat covers.

I plan to take plenty of pics. It's going to be the week after Thanksgiving. I'm taking vaction then to work on the truck.
Do a search on here there are some threads on shortening frames.
From what i have read it doesn't look to be to hard.

Thanks, i am really stoked about this project. I have completly lost interest in the drag car for now.

I'm good... just work all the time, I don't even have time for dirt cars anymore, so I figured I would start working on this, I already have the motor and trans built, hopefully by spring I will be ready to get some paint shot on it. You?

Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"

Just back from the salvage yard. I picked up a suburban fuel tank out of a 90 model so it has the baffle for the fuel pump. Also got all the inside wiring for my electric doors and windows. Big score on a gauge cluster with electric speedo.
Tomorrow i going to get the bed off and get the truck outside for a round the the pressure washer. Then start prepping for shortening the frame.
Wish i could start today but, i coach my sons peewee football team and today is the second round of the playoffs. Win today trip to the Superbowl.
