Pontiac "C-10"
What the heck am I looking at here? Saw this the other day while out to dinner. Can not find any info on it. Did this guy just make his C10 look like a Pontiac?

Re: Pontiac "C-10"
Probably had a wiped out T/A sitting in his back yard and thought..... what the heck, it'll be different
|
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
Interesting...looks well done.
|
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
No, Pontiac didn't make c10's. Nice truck and neat gimmick -I guess.
|
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
I'm digging it....NICE!
|
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
The more I look at the pictures..... I kinda like it! He did it up classy. At least he omitted the Bird on the hood.
It's not for me, but I like it. I would have left off the grill inserts and just put an Arrow Head in the center. |
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
Hmmm, what engine do ya suppose he has under that scoop?

I like it and I'm a purist, tasteful and relatively subtle but distinctive

*Newbie cop, young guy, first time out on the road.
"Control, this is unit 141, need you to run the plates on a gold Pontiac pickup truck." "Affirmative, I said Pontiac..." LOL |

Pre curser to the Escalade

Re: Pontiac "C-10"
I kind of like it. It looks ok and alot better than some trucks. To each thier own and i bet he gets alot of questions about it.

. . . .
I thought it might be a "Canadian" version, but I can't find any information about them. There were some "different looking" cars made by Holden in Australia too. This 1966 Canadian "Nova" Acadian Canso of which only 83 were ever made, is a good example of models made in different countries. . . . . |

Pretty cool. I like everything about it except, personally, the crossed up years don't fit my taste. I actually have a similar idea I've considered for my '67 GMC project, but more mechanical than appearance and more era-correct. It all started with the M22 I have for it from a '65 GTO. I figure the GMCs and Pontiacs were sold together, for the most part. Since almost all '67s had 6s,the vibe would be a truck done by a Pontiac wrench who would have a good connection to deals on cast-off Pontiac (warrantied) mechanicals, the ability to easily rebuild, and easy access to parts with a healthy discount. I did work for a guy that I could get a '65 389/3spd Bonnie from for the taking. See where I'm going? My budget is tight these days and I already have a built 327 ready for it,so I dunno. But,I do have a '65 GTO steering wheel, bucket seats, vacuum gauge in pod,and hubcaps!!
In Canada the GMCs had few differences, but the only cosmetic thing was the fender badges. Here's the only Pontiac pickup I know of,other than Utes: |
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
I was wondering if Pontiac sold trucks in Canada too, and was going to google it.

Re: Pontiac "C-10"
Since we also have 7 of the 2nd gen, Trans Ams, I like it. Somebody took their engine swap VERY seriously. I thought it was pretty nicely done, sort of a "what if" truck. Plus, it combines 2 of my favorite vehicles.
Now I'm getting ideas about all these extra C10 and Trans Am parts I have around.... |

Met this guy while I was living in So-Cal. He was a regular at the Fuddruckers Cruise-in on El Toro in Lake Forest, Ca. That's my old '62 Bel-Air next to it.

Re: Pontiac "C-10"
I bet he calls it a P10.
|
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
I kinda like it. It would be better if it was a GMC, since GMC has always had a close association with Pontiac. They used Pontiac V8 engine in their trucks from 1955 to 1959.

The Pontiac poverty caps are some of the best looking dog dishes there are out there, and would look awesome on a set of 8" steelies with a 4/6 drop. I'm riding around with a set of those on my '67 GTO right while I'm working on it. |
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
Yep,the tailpipes would be the icing on the cake, run like stacks, right? Oh no,now you went and planted that seed. Alabama ain't that far! I was thinking on running down and buying Josh's '67 bed he was selling a couple weeks ago, then decided to stay with my woodfloor deal I already have (& have powder coated BBC heat shields I just bought). I have red powder coated 8" 5-lugs the caps will look great on. Considering a set of chrome reverse. The reflection on the rim would look awesome. If I had a car it would be a Pontiac. I had a burgundy w/black vinyl top '65 GTO once upon a time. This truck has a long way to go,so never can tell.

If you wanted 17's later, the US Mags Bandit wheels that I going to run on my GTO would look awesome on a truck too!
(I'm sorry for the bad influencing Tim, I just love Pontiacs!;) ) http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...psb667ce25.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps4cfecb99.jpg |
Re: Pontiac "C-10"
I know this thread is not about hybrid a bodies, but someone had an "El Cabrito" here on the local c list a while back. It was a 66 or 67 El camino with a 66/67 tempest front clip. Looked to be a bolt on! I also recall seeing a 68-72 el camino with a Buick skylark clip. I think that it required more mods though.

Aztec prototype. Equally as enticing as the real one. Sometimes the truth hurts. (ok OK, just my opinion...)

It's a shame they decided to kill a brand with such a long time strong and loyal following. Hail to the Pontiac...HAIL!! Hail to the Studebaker...HAIL!! Hail to the Edsel...HAIL NO!!!
Hey Jocko,so you figure if someone changed the grille and tail end trim on an Aztec it would be a nice looking...uh,thing? |

Re: Pontiac "C-10"
I hear ya. I passed up on so many cheap '65 GTOs (and everything else) around here in the early '80s because of rust in rear 1/4s. That used to mean the car was done, unless you could find N.O.S. quarters or had mad sheet metal skills.
Hail to the Aztec...Sir,we'll have to ask you to kindly leave now. I think you've had enough to drink Pontiup  I pretty much agree, when it comes to bodies. Augmentation ruins that natural feel. This one coulda been worse...C/10 parts on a Trans Am? |

I like it, good job!!
To me, it shows someone who has some ability to think of and create something a little different which is a very big part of this hobby in my opinion. He definitely is NOT being another copy cat or 'also ran' in his customization department ....ya' gotta like that.;) My two bits. Coley:chevy: |
