i finally got it running after getting a 600cfm holley carb.
I never did drive it because i didnt have a lot of confidence in it being safe ok folks so thats what i started with! very rough!! My family thought i was crazy! but i laughed to myself knowing that i had ordered my dropmember from nate and my rear suspension from chris alston chassisworks (Kp components) ok so Now, on to the next set of pictures!! |
Re: Kevin's 1972 build thread (slow motion)
i ended up pulling this engine by myself
(first time doing it) wasn't hard at all http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...5-27152611.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...412_124541.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...412_163003.jpg |
Re: Kevin's 1972 build thread (slow motion)
oops!! got paint on my brothers driveway lol
i ended up getting a metal etching primer and hit it with a satin black finish it came out pretty good! i painted all the PB stuff this way http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...429_163347.jpg |
Re: Kevin's 1972 build thread (slow motion)
next up,
i cleaned the frame, primer and then por15 i originally had this bright idea to use the silver por15 but i dont think i mixed it up good enough and ended up going with the black instead and since i was working with limited time and space at my brothers garage i only painted the area that i could reach, without removing the cab i ended up covering the frame completly with por15 at a later date http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...413_102934.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...427_194934.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...429_163259.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...429_171135.jpg |

Re: Kevin's 1972 build thread (slow motion)
so, i made a decision to go with 1973 c10 lower control arms and have someone fab up a airbag cup/bracket to use with my dropmember,
well that all changed after finding out that MMW, michigan metalworks were creating C10 arms, ***also got new wheel bearings and rotors http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t..._4392016_o.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...0/70f38608.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...0/6eb1fca8.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t..._1133457_o.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t..._2309223_o.jpg |
Re: Kevin's 1972 build thread (slow motion)
i really really want 22's for the front
but, that will have to wait i had these wagon wheels laying around and just went with them for the mean time i may eventually switch to 15's and wide white walls when i get closer to completion i had to trim the wheel well just a little lol http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...10706608_n.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...78617161_n.jpg front is done and the rear is up next i have since moved to a new house, and tried to finish the rear in speedy fashion |

we ended up meeting Lucky Brewer, stayed at his place for the night, met his wife and kids, and i learned about congenitial heart defects, in which his daughter Lilie had i put the sticker on my truck, but i only found a pic of luckys truck, but later we went to Layd out at the park, it was a cool show http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...409_124257.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...409_124201.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...409_124119.jpg |

Re: Kevin's 1972 build thread (slow motion)
this pretty much brings things up to speed
i have done everything myself, and figured i better get a welder so hopefully in the next few days my hobart 125 will arrive i will then attempt to weld the Rack and pinion braces in the bracket for the PB hood assembly, the brace for the rear step notch and then it will be time to run the fuel lines, brake lines raised wood floor for the rear, paint my trans (TH350) i then need to make it to michigan as my uncle says he has new bumpers, a nicer grill, grill surround, rear sliding window and a crackless windshield lol recently got a new core support and doors (AMD) via theBurb out of MN, great guy to deal with still in need of a tailgate and wiring harness http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...20689856_o.jpg |

Re: Kevin's 1972 build thread (slow motion)
i also rec'd my impala SS rear brakes
that i ordered from rock auto i got left and right calipers for $60.00 total i had no clue that i would get the caliper, brake pads and brackets for the above price. the down side is that i ordered caliper brackets, at 11.00 each and didnt need to since the calipers came loaded and also came with the brackets it was very easy to set up a return authorization on the website, but i lost 6 bucks on shipping but, again i still feel that i got a good deal on those parts i have already installed captain fabs, SS brackets i kit that is right up my alley!! the quality and the price cant be beat!! http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0a16f8b1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...psf1985799.jpg |

i was also able to clean my gas tank with muriatic acid (4.00) at Lowes
and i used por15 tank sealer that i got from Amazon (44.00) if i remember correctly , it came out really nice!! i still need to get a new fuel float and sending unit. i have 1/2 inch fuel line my plan is to drill a hole into the top of the unit and instal my bulkhead complete with the fuel proof nylon gaskets that way my fuel system will be ready for any upgrades that i can think of i just need to figure out how to install the metal sock/filter onto the half inch line :waah: ok i think that is all that ive done so far wait, i do have one pic of what i did with my brake booster lol saw this mod on power-block tv it was on a 240 and i thought it was cool and borrowed the idea lol |
