My 72 gmc build
2 Attachment(s)
So here's the 1972 GMC K-2500 Sierra that I have had as my daily driver for the past two years. It's a numbers matching truck, except for the motor (which I have). It came from the factory with bucket seats and console, auxiliary fuel tank, sliding rear window, and the tach option. I have all the paperwork for it including the bill of sale and protect-o-plate. For a drivetrain it has another 350, SM465 4 speed, 205 transfer case and the DANA 60 rear end with 4.10s or 4:11s

Re: My 72 gmc build
I added the flatbed this summer since the bed floor was rotted out. Here pretty soon I'll be tearing apart the whole truck and redoing the body for my senior project (yeah my school still does that). I'll also be installing a Ranger Overdrive and Flowmasters with headers

Re: My 72 gmc build
That's a cool truck. It's nice your school still does that stuff. I took 3 years of Auto shop in my school and they closed down my senior year. That was also in 2002 so it's been a little while now.

Re: My 72 gmc build

After I rebuilt the back panel on the flat bed. This is what you come up with when you want a triple-C bale bed but don't have $8,000 to spend on one

Re: My 72 gmc build
Nice truck ,Im in to see the rest of it .
|
Re: My 72 gmc build
I'll have the cab and driveshafts reinstalled this weekend and hopefully have it in the body shop in a couple weeks. It's going to be nice to have the old girl back after it being out of commission for five months

Re: My 72 gmc build
Sweet! I want to see how this turns out!

It looks like you are making really good progress! When you are done could I get a ballpark on how much this whole thing cost to finish?

Re: My 72 gmc build
Truck looks great.I like the bed.
How is the ranger to use ? Been thinking about one for awhile. |
Re: My 72 gmc build
I've never used it before but I heard great reviews on it. I'm hoping it works really well
|
Re: My 72 gmc build
Love it man! Nice looking k2500. I'm going after a 72 k/20 Cheyenne this weekend. Most love these trucks low and fast I like them 4x4!

Re: My 72 gmc build
That's not too bad, is that including the overdrive?

Re: My 72 gmc build
Wow! That's great! Keep up the good work
|
Re: My 72 gmc build
Well, about the only thing I accomplished last night was setting my carburetor on fire in an attempt to start my engine for the first time in five months. That was interesting, to say the least
|
Re: My 72 gmc build
We've all been there at one time or another... I lost my eyebrows and part of my beard from a backfire thru the carb. Good times haha
|
Re: My 72 gmc build
Something more dumb can always be done, like trying to light cardboard on fire downwind with gas...
|
Re: My 72 gmc build
I too have had my share of flames under the hood ,not fun at all.
|
Re: My 72 gmc build
I got the truck running really good with the help of a friend the other day. I will say it is WAY too loud with just open headers. With all that said and done, I was able to cruise around in it a little bit. The ranger overdrive is going to be great once the truck is really back on the road.
I also had to go buy a brand new passenger side door and fender today. It wasn't any fun being out another $500 after I thought my parts were ok to use |
