First start of my swap. It's a LQ4 with a set of 241 heads and a ls3 cam and valve springs.

Money that's a rebuilt 6.0 and a gm reman 4l80. Eventually I wanna boost it but I didn't want the truck sitting for months or years waiting to do it all. I like driving that thing and it would kill me to just have it sit.

L92 it's a lq4 with cathedral heads, a ls6 cam and valve springs. I used cpps swap kit. It came with the Doug thorley headers. I couldn't use the crossmember out of the kit it was too wide for some reason it stuck out past the frame rails by almost a inch. So I used my 700r4 crossmember from bowtie Overdrives it worked fine on the 4l80 and gave me more room for the exhaust. I'm not sure what mufflers I'm gonna run I have a set of 40 series flowmasters but I think I wanna switch but not sure yet. Still have a bug to work out on the motor my ltfts for bank two are way too high almost on the 23 range and I'm getting a p0174 code for bank 2 lean. I know it's not a vaccum leak so I'm gonna swap the injectors over this weekend to see if it moves. I'm also waiting for my aluminum drive shaft to get made then I can do some donuts.

I finally said f it and did it. I ordered the motor and trans sept 16th got it oct 29th and fired it up jan 1st. It wasn't that bad but some things I wish I had done different. I highly recommend pulling the front clip to install the engine and trans together. I have a 4 inch drop and couldn't get it in so I had to break it apart. The trans is HEAVY and TALL and doing it on the ground was a pain by myself even with a trans jack. I like your stepper slowcpe. I wasn't a fan of them but they are growing on me. if my bed was trashed I would probably convert it but its in really good condition.

Nice set up!!

Once I actually pulled a front clip and learned how ridiculously easy it was I will never install another engine without pulling it again.

Yup. Front clip comes off every time the engine comes out. WAY easier to work on stuff that way.

IF someone would make a flip-nose front clip for the 64-66 that actually was any good, I'd be on one in a second. I love being all steel, but if I could dump 150lbs off the nose AND make it easier to work on....whooo I'd be all over that.

I guess I'll have to plan on pulling the front end off my truck when I put an LS in it. I wonder if it's ever been off...

Yeah we ended up pulling the whole front clip to get the 6cyl out. Just made things easier but now turned my truck into a full frame off. :lol: My front clip was a bit of a pain to get off due to rusty bolts, but if I put fresh ones in, it would probably be a piece of cake the next time.

Did you pull each peice off, or just pull the clip as an assembly? Its the difference between a 30 minute process and 2hour process lol.

Can it seriously be done in half an hour? If so, is that true for square bodies as well?

Depends on what you have hooked up already.

I had my radiator out and fender wells out. Might have been less than half an hour to be honest. You need a second person (or two) to lift it off. It is much easier if your wheels are off to.

:metal: Whoa! man she looks really nice really like her stance. Cant even imagine what you feel gripping the steering wheel knowing you got LQ4 lionheart in your truck. Yeah I just couldn't pull it has one piece kinda hard when I'm working by myself. I really want to do another swap. It's kinda like getting addicted to boost. Once you felt it you only want to turbo everything afterwards.

Its really not that bad, IF you have a helper to muscle it off with you. Nothing a six pack of milwaukees finest can't fix.

Pull the bumper, loosen the core support mounts, remove the radiator hoses, remove the wiring bulkhead at the firewall, remove any oil cooler or trans cooler lines, remove the cowl to get to the fender bolts, remove 8 fender bolts (2 on cowl, 2 on middle of A-pillar, 2 at bottom of A-pillar, 2 bolting inner fender to firewall), lift it off, and go to work. Makes life much easier.

So I have a problem ive been trying to trouble shoot and Im pretty sure it in the ecm. my problem is the fans kick on at 208 like normal but they will not shut off. temp drops to about 187 and they stay on. if I leave the truck running and I pull the relays for the fan they die when I put them back in they come back on. If I shut the truck off and start it back up they stay off till the temp gets up to 208 again then they wont shut off. Each fan is wired independently with a 30 amp relay and 40 amp fuse and gets its own signal from the ECM.

What's the off temperature supposed to be on your relay? If it expects to get down to 180 or something, and can't, it won't turn off.

Yea, who did the tune? I'd check to see that the "off" temp in the tune didn't get fat fingered somehow.

I sent an email today asking them what the off temp is I have no clue what it was set at. I"d assume it would be around 190 ish?

Yes, typically it would be in that range. They will have to look at your specific flash file to rule that out as a cause.

It should also shut off when you go WOT. I can't remember if it will do it or not with the key on and the engine off, but you can try pressing the pedal to the floor with the engine off and see if the fan cuts off. That might help rule out relay problems.

However, the fans may shut off at a certain vehicle speed.

The fans are supposed to turn off at about 40mph if I remember correctly. You could put the truck up on jack stands and run it and see if they go off. But my bet is also it's in the tune.
