Re: My new '72 "survivor"
White with a plaid seat? Have I told you how much I HATE YOU?
That's a beauty! I love the wood framing on the bed too. Looks like the PO liked to haul. I wish my truck had a plaid seat....I wonder how much a modern look-a-like would cost me as the seat needs reupholstered anyway.... |

Can someone tell what what this part is? I will ask the owner but I thought maybe someone has seen one or has one. Mounted on the right side, appears to have come with the truck.

Re: My new '72 "survivor"
TWO plaid trucks! My new hero! Ha. The stuff pictured above is an original air diverter. Theory is that it was used to cool the exhaust. Unknown if it worked at all, but it sure is effective at skinning my knuckles. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=314684

Re: My new '72 "survivor"
I didn't know the Highlander package was available on base models (it is a Custom 10 right?). Plus, didn't Highlanders get A/C?

According to the original buyers son, the truck was a dealer order at Ande Chevrolet in Lawrenceburg Indiana. The A group was the base Highlander. It also sported Cincinnati Bengal stripes when they got it. It has everything in Group A except the upper molding. It has the lower molding and it had the Below Eye Line mirrors. The ownet took them off and put phillips head screws in the holes and attached California style mirrors. It does have the auto trans and power steering and brakes, but no tilt wheel as in Group B. |

Well I guess I know how they painted the rock guards as it went down the line. I wish the owner would have held onto those chrome bumpers.

Re: My new '72 "survivor"
Here is an attachment to a very informative thread on Highlander trucks. The thread was started by SSTim and he one of ( if not the ) the most knowledgeable persons on the site when it comes to Highlanders and intricate info in general about these trucks. Please post some info and pics of your truck on this thread. Column #38 explains a lot of Highlander details.
