Stolen....

OMG.....It was painful to sign in! Yep, my 68 C-10 was stolen yesterday and probably being sold for parts. It was last seen in Federal Way WA at a park and ride. Has three-on-the tree, straight six with HEI, 3-speed OT transmission, tach dash, power brakes, electric fan. Looks gold, but is a shade or two light than the brown/ green it should be. Not the best for resto for sure, but it was a daily driver for 100 mile commute for 6 years. I hope it comes back in decent shape.....not holding my breath though.Attachment 1554804

Re: Stolen....
There is nothing worse than finding an empty parking spot where you left your ride . Hopefully it's found in one piece and some teenager took a joyride .
|
Re: Stolen....
Sorry to hear that :(. That's a nice truck.
|
Re: Stolen....
Man, that really sucks. Thieves are nothing but scum
|

Re: Stolen....
Sorry to hear about this. Sucks to hear. I hope they not only find the truck, but catch the guys who stole it. Wouldn't be pretty if it was my truck and I found out who took it. :sumo:

I have had a prowler in my yard here lately and he was a brazing one. I am lucky he didn't break in that night as I was gone. Neighbor spotted him and scared him off. I was so angry I was very tempted to "camp out" in the backyard with my 12 gauge and if/when he came back, no matter how many friends he had with him, I'd "punch their tickets." However, I calmed down and I've just been home every single night, no AC be damned. I think he came back a few nights ago and took off when he saw my car parked there. Oh but how I wish he had tried to come in anyway! So I imagine you are as mad as me x100. Can you check with any security cameras they had there? They may have even used a wrecker or flatbed, it's possible. My truck is 3OTT and I'm planning on parking it in front of some immobile object (wall, tree, etc.) and putting it in gear towards that object and then removing the shift lever. I plan to chain it to things and use this device called a "brake jack" and keeps the brake from being pressed. I also put in a fuel shut off valve I'll engage as well. My dad is going to help me put in an ignition kill switch too. I will pray for you sir, I hope you get this back and the bad guys are punished but turn their lives around and repay you and become good guys. |
Re: Stolen....
Will keep an eye out.. probably headed out of the country so maybe port cities or borders..
It is my understanding that law enforcement has traffic cameras at key entrance and exit points around most local cities. If they are motivated enough they can run a search through their automated license plate reader camera records. The cameras record each plate of each vehicle passing through the field of view of the camera and they use text recognition software to make the data searchable. Thanks for letting us know - maybe this site should have a special thread for stolen trucks? |

Re: Stolen....
I saw a very similar truck in Sparks, Nevada yesterday afternoon in a Taco Bell drivethru. My kids thought something was wrong because I was staring. I said nope just nice old truck. Not sure but same color. Matt

Re: Stolen....
Taco Bell security camera! Do you still have your receipt with the timestamp?
|
Re: Stolen....
I put your post and photo up on the local Seattle-area Facebook group "Northwest C10s", which has about 5000 members, so there should be a few eyeballs out there. No one spots these trucks like other owners, so let's hope.
I also posted on the 67-72 C/K Northwest Parts Exchange with 2000 members. I can probably decode the plate number from the photo, but you might want to let us know what it is. Not many of these, but don't want people calling 911 for every gold-brown pickup! |
Re: Stolen....
I was on the highway looking over my shoulder. It was about 655 pm. Taco Bell pyramid highway 89441

Re: Stolen....
That sucks! Hope they find it

I'm thinking that potential C10 thieves need to learn they steal one of these and they are going to be dealing with an army - namely us forum members..
So it was taken on July 20th - can you let us know a time frame? And is this the address where it was taken from? Address: 31635 23rd Avenue South, Federal Way, WA 98003 Here is a photo of the area: Maybe go back and look for security cameras along the possible exit routes and interview people whose windows overlook the site? |
Re: Stolen....
I feel your pain my friend... I experience my truck being stolen in 2011... they did recover part of it (bare cab, and rolling Chassis) 3 days later... They never have made a arrest in the ring here that was stealing these trucks... I was devastated...
I hope they find it soon... Peace Brother... Dan |
Re: Stolen....
I just drove out to where I saw a similar truck last night. It was mcDondalds not Taco Bell

Re: Stolen....
My heart goes out to you. I had a '77 short box Fleetside K10 stolen in the Detroit area in the late '80's. I figured it was in pieces by dawn however it was found in a residential area about 36 hours later. All personal belongings were gone and the easy to take lights, grill, stereo etc were gone. The steering column was ripped open with a pry bar. BUT, the fiberglass cap, custom tires and wheels and all mechanicals were in tact. I drove it back across southern Michigan, home. I felt violated but I had my truck. Keep hope, it could show up. As said before, there are a lot of eyes on this website and we don't miss many 67-72's that we see. Best of luck and I hope it was well insured.

Re: Stolen....
68 Iron; Wizo(Ron) up here in Tacoma Wa.Is there any way you can post a better pix of the license plate? I travel I5 in this area a lot and will do my part to look out for it.Sorry to hear that a worthless piece of human waste (thats as clean as i can get it for this forum) decided to thief your ride.

Re: Stolen....
I'm a long ways from you and doubt I will see your truck but I hope you get it back. Someone stole my new crate motor a few months ago. I had the old 307 out and ready to install my new 350 when they pulled the doors off my shop and stole my motor off the engine stand. The thieves are in jail now but there is a drug dealer riding around with my motor in his car and the police wont do anything about it.
|
Re: Stolen....
I will keep an eye out for your truck on the east side.
|
Re: Stolen....
I'll be looking out as well.
|
Re: Stolen....
I'll keep an eye out for it in my area. That being said it's probably hidden away somewhere close to you. Give it a few months and you'll probably start seeing parts show up for sale on CL and ebay.
This makes me think I should do a little more to make my truck harder to steal. I always thought a 3 ott would be enough. |
Re: Stolen....
Just seen your posts on Facebook, this kinda crap pisses me off! If i see any gold parts your gonna hear from me.
|
Re: Stolen....
Thieves suck bad. There are few things i hate more than someone who steals. Prayers for you from the land of enchantment!
|
Re: Stolen....
My eyes are peeled! I'm not 15 mins from feddy way. I'm on Craigslist/eBay way too often and will be sure to let you know ASAP brother. Good luck.

Re: Stolen....
As an Army Recruiter in 1988 I had a'68 Barracuda convertible stolen from San Bernardino Army Recruiting Station when I took a kid to process in Los Angeles. I looked at where it was parked and couldn't believe it wasn't there. Took a minute to sink in and then that pissed off dreaded feeling that you are a victim and that car thieves are really low class people.
The cops found it stripped and cut up with engine parts missing in the slum part of town. I donated it to the local high school to rebuild. And I would love to catch the crook(s) that took yours, I'll see if anything comes up down here in the Rose City. |
Re: Stolen....
My brother had one of his work trucks stolen by an employee. He called the police but they did nothing.
So he went driving around in the bad section of town and saw it in a driveway! He called the police but they refused to get involved (tax dollars at work!). They also demanded he do nothing which didn't sit well with my brother. He had a buddy come over to drive his car home and he drove the work truck home right then. If I lived close to you, I'd help you search and if you needed muscle and/or steel for the liberation, I'd volunteer mine. I have prayed for you but will keep praying. |
Re: Stolen....
This is everyone's worst fear. I have a removable steering wheel by grant because I know how easy these are to steal. I keep the wheel in a tool box locked up so it's still not ideal, but it may at least make punks think twice before trying to drive off with it.

Re: Stolen....
Dirt bags. My son moved to San Diego in 2011. Two weeks later his 1989 4-runner with 80K miles was stolen. I sincerely hope you receive some good luck and locate your truck in good order. Karma is a real B*(^(

Re: Stolen....
I think you'll get it back.
I've had 2 vehicles stolen and one I found by just driving around the neighborhood in circles going out gradually until bingo, there it was abandoned with a few personal things missing. The other vehicle, a 1967 VW, the police found abandoned in the next city, no damage. Some drunk kids just looking for transportation home I figured. - GOOD LUCK! |
Re: Stolen....
May Karma catch up to those who did this to you. Since it was stolen from a Park and Ride area, they probably cased you out for a few weeks , then put it in a covered trailer and had it two states away before your lunch break. There is a special place in Hades for a lowlife thief. My eyes are always open for "our trucks", so just keep us posted. As a purist at heart, I always notice unique mods on people's trucks. Are there any subtle things that we would notice, to know that it (or parts of it) is yours?

Re: Stolen....
I live in Federal Way, that park and ride is known to be pretty bad. Heck all of Federal Way is going down hill fast. But car thefts seem to be up all over. I will definitely keep an eye out. I know a few places to check, i'll drive around after work tonight.
