News Flash!!

Hold yer horses. I don't know if it's news to others, but I just discovered the GL '68 Chevy work truck that's out. It's green. I get e-mails from www.wheelcollector.com and I saw it yesterday.

So, I thought about starting a thread, saw the other one about the Suburban, and thought we need a common thread to look for to see whats new or what we can share. Do we already have one? If not, here it is :ito:

Blue Collar Series, they call it. Here's one on Ebay for an example:

Tim - the cool thing about getting old is you can experience excitement over the same news over and over again. ;)

Blue collar series. Finally attention given to the actual purpose of a truck and the people they were made for! I guess next the ladder racks on my '72 will become en vogue.

Nothing new to report, but this here's the place when you have something. Come to think of it, I should have that thing by now. Hmmm...lemme check on that.

I need this one. I like the Greenlights that are done (almost) original. Could do better, but these are great 1/64ths for the "replica" value.

Still haven't gotten a Hot Wheels zamac '67 C/10, either

Me too! There was the camper version, but an empty bed is cool. I even like the package art. The camper had wheel wheels/dog dish I think. Yesterday morning I had an e-mail from www.wheelcollectors.com about that series, so I went ahead and ordered a few to get combined shipping. That's two new GLs just recently.

Hey Jeramy, that's cool you found one. I never saw one in all my toy hunting and I like finding the more obscure ones.

Re: News Flash!!

special-k my daughter found 11 of the zamac 67's Saturday night on a quick trip to walmart. I got several to do customs and gave a few away to my buddy. We had a great hunting weekend and were not even trying. Luck of the draw I guess.

I just got three from wheelcollectors on Ebay . They send me e-mails and their price was reasonable, so I got three to make shipping reasonable as well. One stays in the package, one spoken for, and the third to open and display. I like that they made a new wheel for these. It's actually the wheel cover. Other than mags, they had been using the same 15" dog dish wheel for all, even the C/20s

I don't really collect this stuff. Most of the things I had stashed for whatever reason I give to my grandson. He doesn't beat them up, especially since he isn't here that often. But when he is he likes to take a bunch out at a time and we roll them up and down the hallway.

That being said I like the 50th truck. Its kind of neat. If I had one I would probably pin it to the wall in my shop. Would be safe until my grandson spotted it LOL.

This is the 2017 Super Treasure Hunt truck. Apparently, the cards no longer identify the casting as a Super Treasure Hunt and there isn't corresponding Treasure Hunt. The "TH" along with the Spectraflame paint and Real Rider wheels denotes it's a Super Treasure Hunt.

Keep your eyes out in a few weeks. There are a few showing up on EBay shipped from Malaysia (probably smuggled out of the factory).

I am ready to find one of these in the wild. A buddy of mine just got one off of Ebay. It's a nice color and tampo combination. Definitely different than most trucks you see.

These are cool...I just got the green '68 & the Anniversary Gold '68....I've had the Hitch & Tow with the orange '69 & the white '72 with the feathers for awhile now. I want the Dazed & Confused black '71 or '72, but had heart failure over the $20+ price...

That a hard one to swallow, even harder to swallow that I killed 7 of them doing customs, also killed a couple of the baby blue 68's from the "Dallas" TV show,

Nothing new for so long, I hardly check this forum. Never did get this purple version. Haven't been checking Ebay, either, till the other day and I did see one of these claiming to be TH. You see that a lot, so I'm glad to see they are in fact THs. I knew Hot Wheels was subduing the TH identity. The one on Ebay wasn't crazy high.

Yeah, you gotta watch those eBay listings. I see so many auctions playing the "treasure hunt" card when the item is anything but.

Just saw these '69 Blazers with boats in the Johnny Lightning Gone Fishing release. Unfortunately, they have wake board boats as opposed to fishing boats.

special-K 05-23-2017 07:42 AM

Re: News Flash!!

The GL Silver Streak is cool. Although they could have left the logo off the truck so it didn't look like an RV show circuit vehicle and less like real world.

Finally! A couple more JL Blazers! Those will be cooler out of the pkg w/o the silly "Gone fishing/didn't know I bought a ski boat" theme

Now Hot Wheels, when ya gonna make another cool '70 Blazer?

That's a casting they need to use more. It's only had 7 releases with the last one being in 2014. They've all been premium releases so far with metal bases and Real Riders, but I wouldn't complain if they'd slap a plastic base on it and release it in the mainline.

Boy, Hot Wheels has sure slowed up on the Chevy trucks. I haven't bought one n a long long time when just last year I was busy keeping up.

This isn't a GM truck. I have always liked Willys pickups and I just came across this replica that I'd like to share. Would like to buy it but that's not happening. If I was still as active as I used to be I would already have ordered this.

Re: News Flash!!

I hear Greenlight is doing a bunch of Indy 500 pickups, including a '67 Chevy and both '81 and '83 GMC's in 1/64th. scale next year. What is kind of aggravating is that Greenlight is doing all kinds of Ford pickups in 1/64, 1/48, and even 1/18 scale. '67-'72 Chevys only come in 1/64th.. Strange considering the popularity of the Chevy's!

I really want to see someone do a nice 1/25 kit of a '67-'72 GM pickup. The only kits available have been reissues of the hoary old AMT longbed C/10. That kit is a mess, it's a bunch of AMT and MPC promo parts with an updated smallblock engine. Very hard to make something decent out of it. The 1972 K/5 Blazer kit is much better.

special-K 12-19-2018 09:29 AM

Re: News Flash!!

While I appreciate what Greenlight is doing with producing more 'replica-like' quality scale models, they could really use a proper GM Truck consultant. They frustrate me with getting them 'almost right' or completely wrong. I go to a farm toy shop in Feb and a guy there sells the GL stuff. He has a shop in VA, I guess a hobby shop, and has worked with GL to produce some of their 67-72 issues. The red and white with cap version called Pop's Ride or whatever was his own dad's truck... which turned out well. But others, like the darker blue & white Midnight 'something' version that he took part in are not close to any GM color. When I mentioned, as just another buyer at a show, that's it's a shame GL doesn't get the colors right, that they need an expert consultant, he didn't want to heaar it. Said the colors are spot on. The hobby shop is a side business. Th main business is a Mustang restoration shop. Go figure. Rather than challenge the guy I shook my head, bought a couple trucks, and moved on
