Barrett Jackson
The Barrett Jackson Auction is on Velocity channel. Already have seen three trucks go through for Moocho Moola
|
Re: Barrett Jackson
Yea. I just looked at the list. Most all of them over 20k and several over 30. These trucks definitely are becoming more sought after each year. I'm heading to Scottsdale with a couple friends later this week. Probably check out Barrett, and maybe some of the others too

this one caught my eye - some things I don't like (like the whole interior, and I doubt it's a real super based on a few tell tale signs) but what I DO like is that it was claimed as an original 565 truck (i.e. redone in original black top/hugger orange color combo). Stick some white steelies and PO3s on there and THEN ya GOT somethin! (it sold for just over $36K). And, for what it's worth, the announcers should spend a little time on this website when they get a chance, the mis-information they quack is often overwhelming... Where's that Magnante guy when ya need him?!? Would want to see a SPID to confirm, and the only picture close to it looks like it's just laying there in the glovebox, barely attached. Dash is black, ugh... but if the color combo is original, thatsa nice.

Re: Barrett Jackson
Man there must be some really disappointed sellers tonite . Seen some really decent 67-72 go for cheap and a few square bodies go for dirt cheap .

What about the 68 step with no air.... 28k I believe.....
|
Re: Barrett Jackson
The sad thing is that morons willing to pay that kind of money for these trucks make it much more difficult for those of us who own not to collect but to drive/use these trucks.

Re: Barrett Jackson
How about that 72 short bed with the 67 front clip that went for $17,500?
|
Re: Barrett Jackson
I guess the lesson whether purchasing a entry level driver or a high end driver - before buying ... do your research. :uhmk:

That was one of the c10s I saw . Although front end shouldn't have been changed I thought it would go higher than that . after reading first few posts in this thread I turned it on ... that one at 17 was highest I saw ... saw about 7 c10s (very nice squarebody too ) in the back end of program . All went for about 9-10k average . And they were nice trucks . Someone got a good deal on the ones I saw ... on cl they'd be listed at 20-30k lmao . The purple one (yea it was purple) went for 10k ... that was a really nice truck (aside from the purple ) Few stepsides I saw went pretty cheap .... again I'm comparing to what I see on cl and what people are ASKING . |

Re: Barrett Jackson
What the purple truck a big block?
I'm not even going to touch the "people who pay more for a truck than my cousin Bubba is an idiot" comments. The market is what the market is, and you can't tell how highly a truck is restored on TV (they all look pretty good, but they're really nowhere near it). At the end of the day people are still paying $25K for trucks that cost $40K to restore. The occasional $40K truck you see sell cost $75K to restore. Some of you guys act like someone threw an Earl Scheib paint job on a $7500 CST and sold it for $25K. Ain't happening. No one's getting rich restoring 67-72 pickups. Just the guys hoarding NOS parts. |

Agree with you ...... it almost (if u have a fist full of cash) seems like it's a buyers market (at an auction) |
Re: Barrett Jackson
Since I started this thread I'l throw in my 2 cents worth. I put it up to let guys here who may not know about the auction to ogle at some nice trucks . I didn't mean it to get to a bashing and "he paid too much" and etc. Just enjoy the free parade of nice old iron. If a guy or gal "paid too much" it is because they wanted it. Nuff said.

But agreed "Bashing" is a "no no" so folks keep lets it positive with the way you/we reply. |
Re: Barrett Jackson
I am actually glad to see it when our trucks bring good money. I feel like people are starting to understand what we all have known for a while.... These trucks are priceless.......

And another point - some people (me included) are too old to wait 10 years for the dream deal to materialize. If you like it and can afford it, you better buy it. |
Re: Barrett Jackson
A white '72 Cheyenne super went for $50k last night

Not this one? https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-26...-super-pickup/

Re: Barrett Jackson
White's not my color of choice but for a factory big-block Super shortbed? 50K seems right to me.
|
Re: Barrett Jackson
copper 70 gmc crew cab just went for $85,000....
|
Re: Barrett Jackson
I've been to a Mecum auction and as someone said they all look good on TV but different in person. If that white Cheyenne Super looked as good in person as on TV, someone got a great truck! Restored, nut and bolt, with all GM parts. $50K is a steal.

Re: Barrett Jackson
Anybody see the 55 Chevy pickup go for 170k ... holy****
|
Re: Barrett Jackson
And not to be out done a 1950 Chevy 3100 went for $187000.00. Two bidders went after that one and really drove the price. It is a killer 1/2 ton.

Re: Barrett Jackson
I watched some of the auction...and the trucks I saw go across the block weren't bringing overly big bucks.
Actually....a bunch of the vehicles were probably letting their sellers down, in terms of bids/pricing...to some degree. A lot of sellers do not want to pay for 'optimum time' showing....so they are relegated to come across the block after 8:00 at night etc...and the buyer base just isn't there at that time of night...just a few evening/night owls trying to pick up a few bargain (which they do). If you want your truck or car on the block at 1:00-2:00 in the afternoon, which is optimum time....you are going to have pay significant money over the usual auction entry fees. Coley |
Re: Barrett Jackson

Re: Barrett Jackson
Things like Barret Jackson , selling a truck for unreal money between to rich people in a bidding war , now everyone wants stupid money for our trucks & parts. Also dislike those stupid unrealistic grease monkey shows that make people think every older vehicle is a retirement package! Rant Over. Im better now..

Re: Barrett Jackson
Did anyone see the 1969 Dodge Crew cab go for $170,000? What a shocker that was.

I bought this 1970cst truck for a little under $2300. It has a factory 402BB, 400 Auto., Ac, Buckets, etc.
But that was back in 2000. Things have changed. Barret Jackson has had some affect on our trucks but - the 67-72 era trucks like the Tri 5's have never lost their design appeal. Some trucks remain as they were bought while others are fixed up - either way these trucks are classics. The SWB optioned out trucks were the first to catch fire - then the LWB were next. 4x4 were always a hit with the 4x4 crowd. A BB car was out of my price range - even back in 2000. Sadly these trucks are getting the same way for the average driver today. Except for the rare options - most parts for these trucks remain reasonable. I'm glad truck my truck isn't worth $100,000 - I would be afraid to drive it - but these trucks were made to be driven and that's what I going to do this year. As far as Barrett Jackson - agreed there are some beautiful cars and trucks being sold. Even a WV Bus for $130,000 |
Re: Barrett Jackson
70CST: Nice truck...love the colour combo. The wheels look "right" on the truck as well.
