Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
It's traditional to introduce your self here and to state what you intend for your project. Obviously, with your post you intend to change the suspension. Anything else? Engine? Trans? Interior?
By the way, 1955, 56 & 57 are NOT "Apaches". That name only applies to '58 & '59 in the Task Force ('55.2-'59) era half ton trucks. The 3/4 tons are Vikings. The larger trucks are called Spartans. |

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Welcome to the forum. You started out with a great looking truck, wish mine looked that good. We love pictures so be sure to post lots of them as you go. That PB suspension looks beautiful, almost a shame to cover it up by putting it under the truck, LOL.

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
That is a nice looking unit..

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Nice! We need pictures....

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Nothing has changed yet it has a rear end out of 90's chevy truck right now. Trying to figure out if I should have this one cut down or just get another one

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Good looking 55!
I've got a PB frame going together for mine too! :uhmk: |

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Anyone know which way the shock mounts go I haven't been able to figure it out or find any pics of it mounted

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
I believe that mount goes on the other side.

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Any one know the widest rim and tire I can fit in the stock fenders on the rear?
|
Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Are you going to mini tub the bed?
:uhmk: |

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Without tubing it, it think 8in will be the max rim size that will fit under the fender.

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
The width of the rear end will determine what backspacing will work.
:uhmk: |
Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Well 15x7 with a 4.25 backspace doesn't work on the front looks like Im gunna need a 6" wheel just gota figure out what backspace I need

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Will a 15in wheel work with the brake caliper installed?

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
It looks like you have the CPP modular spindle. I would put the caliper on the spindle to confirm the 15in will fit over it.

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
I ended up selling the porterbuilt setup. I’m going a with a full Choppin Block frame now
|
Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
Why the switch from PB to CB? Do you have any pics of the rear PB setup? I'm curious to see how the new kit works. I've heard it bolts in which is what I'm looking for. Thanks.
|
Re: 55 apache porterbuilt
I like the choppin block full frame cuz the cab and the frame lay out at the same time. My porterbuilt kit was weld on in the rear
