Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Those following my build thread have seen me install a new floor pan and I have finished the passenger side cab corner, pillars, inner & outer rocker.
I decided I would try to record the Drivers Side from start to finish so there was a complete step by step video series on this. I know there are a lot of bits and pieces on youtube and a lot of good threads but the videos skip a lot of steps. I know it would have made my life easier so here you go. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkS..._as=subscriber |
Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Thank you, just subscribed and will check them out. Have to replace the inner and outer rocker panels on my 69 and will be the first time ever doing anything like this.

Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Subscribed! I too have to do this work on my 68 and my 70.
It is true that there are a lot of videos out there, but it's nice to have one from a board member, it somehow lends credibility to it for me. |
Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Thanks! This is a job in my future. I’ll check it out.

Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Tomorrow im hoping to seal the inside of the pillar and cab corner so by the weekend you should see a lot of progress. Warmest day weatherman is calling for a while here....

Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
I managed to get the cab corner/pillar finished up for the most part and uploaded two more videos. There are 4 parts and 1.5 hrs of video total which I think give a pretty good walk through of everything.
Now on to the outer rocker! |
Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
I uploaded part 1 of the outer rocker video. This one doesnt look like it will take nearly as much work to get done as the PS did.

I'm going to try and get a how to video on all the common places so ill have to do a second cab to get one of the floor pan and front pillar. I've already had two people contact me to do theirs but they were kind of far away and if I did one for someone Id want them to be close. That way they can come often to see progress etc.... |
Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Nice. Seems like an honest demonstration of the issues with the replacement parts, which is often not shown.

I just uploaded part 1 (of 2) on the inner rocker.
In part 1 I show how I make my own inner rocker from scratch and also how it ties into the rest of the cab. Part 2 I will show how to install the inner rocker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d6oxnMvrDc . |

Great Channel:metal:
Your doing a great job!! . |
Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Thank you for these YouTube videos. They are invaluable learning opportunities and references that have helped me tremendously as I work on a 72 cab. Your explanations, techniques and detailed documenting helps me understand and rethink my approach. Motivating and inspiring. I'm learning as I go and this is one of the greatest resources out there. I'm not doing a total floor replacement but everything you cover is extremely helpful. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Subscribed and have really enjoyed your videos. Did you make a video on the full floor replacement?

Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Watched the latest and saw your announcement for starting another cab. Cant wait for the full floor video. I feel like an 80's kid again, waiting for next week's episode of the A-Team or Dukes of Hazzard to come out! I'm subscribed to your channel, but is there anything else we can do to help your channel out?

Yep, the plan is to have another cab here in the next week or two. Im excited to have a step by step on that finished for sure just because I know the value in it.... having now basically completed a full floor pan replacement, all 4 pillars and rockers.... Sure would have saved me a heck of a lot of thinking.... Its just a ton of work and honestly I had a hard time convincing myself of doing it. Need the $ to continue with my truck is my justification. Recording everything then having to edit it is pretty time consuming compared to just doing it and not explaining/recording everything. The goal for 2021 is to get over 1k subscribers that way the channel will get monetized and that means I would get paid a few bucks every 1000 views. Just some extra bucks to say it wasn't a total loss for me lol. There is someone on this forum that put together a video series on some portions of the cab work that sells copies for around $100. I dont think their dvd shows the extent mine does or shows a floor pan install. Id rather put it up for all to view for free and if it gets me anything in the end, so be it. The only reason I learned is because others have taught me free of charge. Not too long ago I couldn't afford the $100 dvd. Its just my way of paying it forward. One thing I find weird is 85% of the time watched (which total is almost 30k minutes) is from people who aren't subscribed. That's neither here nor there though. |

Re: Youtube channel with how to videos on metal work
Thanks Conoco, I want to eventually get a tig machine but that's way out of the budget at the moment. Maybe after I finish the truck, hah... My left hand is nearly worthless though so that will be a hard learn.

On a side note you can get the "Prime weld" TIG225X AC/DC TIG Welder With Pulse. It is the best price out there and nothing but good reviews. I got one about 5 months ago and it has taken me to a whole differnt level. You can also get it with AFFIRM payments. My payments were only $52 dollars a month. Check it out sometime. Pulse settings are the reason I am using this for the rockers !! Also able to fab up my own headers, that will be trial and error though. Thanks for the videos and stay safe. https://primeweld.com/products/tig-2...-dc-tig-welder |
