Right now I'm installing Discs, Suspension, Axles, and 20s.

I just started my whole conversion process.

I'm installing:
Baer 4-wheel disc brakes
Intro 20 inch wheels
ECE springs
Drop spindles
New ball joints, tie rod ends, and control arm shafts
ECE 5-lug conversion axles
7 inch dual-diaphram booster
Aluminum master cylinder and new brake lines

Here's a couple pics from a few hours ago.

I'll be done in a couple days. Can't wait.

Dinnut, they ARE the Intro Pentias. The fronts are 20x8 with 4.75" backspace. The rears are 20x9.5 with 5.25 backspace. I'll get the rears in there tonight.

Can you give me (PM would be nicer for better record keeping) the info on the brakes/ part number please. You just made stuff go from acceptable to **** just hit the fan i'm going for the full conversion on the the brake system. thanks buddy now i got to spend more money:( :D

Those are going to look sweet, you need to test it and see how many feet for 60-0.

You are about to have the same problem as me with rubbing the wheel wells when I hit big dips in the road. You may wanna call D-Tech first and not wait for me. Everything looks real good too.

Wow, that looks amazing! I agree with everybody else, great choice on the wheels, and the brakes look great. I'm not usually a fan of the cross-drilled look, but those look great. The black calipers are a nice touch too. All too often people paint the calipers to match the car and they stand out a little too much. Black with polished letters is fine for me!

Thanks. I can't wait to see how quickly it stops. It will be a vast improvement over drum brakes. The shop in the background is at my work. I get to use it after hours and on holidays. It's nice to have all of the right tools, space, and good lighting.

You can buy those 71-72 five lug axles and they'll just bolt right in. But you need to verify that you have the wider rear-end. Some of the 70s came with the narrower rear like the previous years. I would check moser, mark williams, currie, or national drivetrain. Just do an internet search and see who has them on sale.

If you have the shorter rear, you can get some conversion axles from ECE for around $300.

Dinnut, you need to put some thought into this instead of just spouting off to up your post count.

Some 70s have the wider rear, some don't!
Now how would you feel if the guy bought some expensive axles based on your post and they didn't fit?

I already did the "research". To paraphrase; short rear - 55-1/2", wide rear - 56-3/4". You can measure that without taking anything apart.

I wish I could post some more pics of the progress but I don't get the camera back until the 31st.

Here's what I've done so far:
installed front spindles and wheels and checked for clearance issues.
installed the ECE 2" drop springs to bring the truck back up a little.
Installed the booster and master(Looks awesome).
Installed the rear axles.
Installed the rear caliper brackets, calipers, and wheels.

I've had it on the ground and I'm happy with the look. Now I'm taking everything back apart to paint(front suspension mostly). I also have to bend a whole bunch of new brake lines. I'm close, oh so close.

Time to get dirty.....again.

injected, looks like you're right where i was about a month ago. it's amazing how much all that work improves how a truck looks and drives. please post LOTS of pics when you're done. i've been lazy and need to get some pics of mine posted after the 17s, 2/4 drop, and 4whl discs.

I would like to see some pictures rin68.

Here are some Baer numbers:

Front system is the GT+ 63-70 C-10 w/5x5" BC (1301121)
Rear system is the TOURING+ 10-12 bolt BIH 5x5" BC (1302095)

The front you can order on their own standard spindle or drop spindle. The rear is a universal 12 bolt setup.

Don't sweat it dinnut. Thats the great thing about this board. If you spend any amount of time on it, you have no choice but to learn stuff like that. I found out the hard way after someone said, "you can just swap the axles out of a 71/2 into a '70". I bought a .373 posi out of a '70 and went to switch the axles and learned real fast that they all aren't the same. Didn't mean to jump the thread, injected. So I've got the whole front suspension apart at the moment. I just finished brushing POR15 semi-gloss on the a-arms. I'm going to let it dry over night and start installing all of the new components tomorrow. I will also start bending all my new brake line. I even got a stainless-braided line from the frame to the differential. Can't wait to see how well all of that turns out.

Next I will take my axles back out and replace the bearings and seals. Then I'll final assemble the rear brakes and fill up the diff. After that I'll be real close. Bleed brakes and drop it on the ground. I should be done tomorrow night. I hope. Wish me luck.

good luck. por15 is very popular stuff! you are bending your own lines? thats cool... you have that kinda machinery in ur shop or where u work? thats cool. are you using moog stuff or what are you using on the front?

I finished up with the POR15. It took a while to prep everything. I completely cleaned and painted my crossmember too. I also painted all of the new MOOG stuff - control arm shafts, tie rods. I'm using MOOG ball joints too.

As for bending the lines, it's easily done with a $50 tube bender. That's what I'm starting on in the morning.

Good news. I'm almost done. Here's whats left:

Replace rear axles bearings and seals.
Bend rear brake lines.
Add rear-end fluid.
Bleed brakes.
Finish alignment.

Fix whatever goes wrong.

Test drive.

I'll post some more pics later on.

wow it looks frickin awesome now dude! what are you using for backup lights? that hood makes it look good? itll look even better when you paint it :eek: did you custom make that grill or take a billit grill and cut up your old front end?
