ONE IS STILL AVAILABLE! This is a NOS 1980 and earlier tailgate emblem in the original box. This has the black detail on the letters. If you want an all chrome NOS one let me know as I have it for the same price. $80 for EITHER one. These have never been installed or had a mounting nut on them.

What years were the black ones used vs. the chrome ones ? Was this a plant thing or ? My 79 is all chrome and shows no sign of ever being black.

I am not really sure on a year thing. I know for sure 73-74 emblems were different design so that rules them out. I was thinking maybe my chrome one had just not gotten painted at the factory. Since the black is on the raised area it would be easy for it to disappear after all these years
