Are all wiper switches wobbly?

My truck didn't have a wiper switch when I bought it. The replacement I got at LMC was wobbly so I drove over to Classic Parts America and theirs was wobbly also. Where can I get a higher quality wiper switch?

Spendy, but you can't beat the original Delco switches!

Part number 1993432.

Also, make sure the knob is tight to the shaft.

Or if you don’t HAVE to have a New in Box one, get one out of an old truck and clean it up.:smoke:

X2... I have purchased a lot of parts for my truck where someone tore out the old stuff, and went to the LMC catalog to replace. In some cases all that needed done was some cleanup and the old parts are superior.

I've never done that but it sounds like fun. I guess my options are to drive 20 minutes over to a salvage yard that has thousands of vehicles or drive an hour out to a truck salvage yard.

I imagine there are pros and cons with each option. What's been everyone's experience? Do you prefer a pickup salvage spot or an everything salvage lot?

I prefer to use all you guys as my salvage yard, and post my want-to-buy ads in the parts section. :-)
I got my latest wiper switch with knob and connector pigtail included right here on the forum.

Re: Are all wiper switches wobbly?

The truck I just went through had sat for roughly 40 years (parked with 62,000 miles when orig. owner bought a new truck), and most every switch was sticking, not working, or had issues. Most are fine now with some TLC and electrical cleaner. Most notably the dimmer switch, and headlight switch. Most would have grabbed the LMC catalog, but I prefer OE and put that money elsewhere. About the only electrical part I replaced was the starter. It did work - sort of - but was so unreliable I could not trust it, and replaced with one of the late model small starters. Time will tell if that was right move. I am holding onto the old starter and it could be rebuilt.

I bought the Delco Remy. Big difference. I shot a little video showing the difference.

Thanks for documenting this.

So the consensus is they all wobble just some of them are way worse.

The ones I checked out from LMC and Classic Parts America were very wobbly. The Delco Remy was just a little wobbly, not enough that I think a thing about it.

I wanted to make sure someone didn't go through a bunch of work and money looking for a switch that's silky smooth and has a satisfying snap action like a new Cadillac does. Because that switch doesn't exist.
