194 straight six
I have a parts truck and I thought it had a 230 or 250 in it but according to the number on the passenger side of the block 3879875 it is a 194 Never heard of that engine, but I always deal with the v 8s. Is this engine desirable at all or just a boat anchor. It does run

I can't speak to the desirability of it, but the guys over to inliners international speak highly of them. You could get more answers there.

Re: 194 straight six
I used to have a 62 Chevy ll with the 194 (3.2) engine. It was a good engine overall as far as I can remember. Not a powerhouse but a decent one for the lighter Chevy ll's.

Re: 194 straight six
Pretty much built out of the same stuff as the bigger one. On a broad scope, probably even less desireable than the 230/250, but they're probably less common, hense more rare and desirable to those few that need one. IIRC they were the next-up option from the 153-4 in the earlier Chevy II/Nova.

Re: 194 straight six
When they were in the early Novas the oil pan sump was in the front. To use one in a different chassis a guy used a 230-250 oil pan. Then the oil dipstick didn't work.
