Changing A-arms
Doing the brake swap on my 63 just changing the a-arms to a 85 C-10 model. Does a guy just swap out all the A-Arm spacers and shims to the newer setup and discard the original shims/spacer? I am going to eventually get it aligned someday .

Re: Changing A-arms
swap it all. Keep all shims separated and put them back where they came from. When you set the truck down you will know if it is really off. You can adjust from there. I think you need all the steering components from the 84. I know the tie rod ends are bigger.

Re: Changing A-arms
Yes I have read that several times ,no mention of spacer/shims or does anyone mention the sway bar. Then again it could be right in front of me and I still wont see it never was any good at following directions

Re: Changing A-arms
I usually try to keep the shim packs where they were prior to disassembly for a starting point. But, when things get changed like this it's just a reference.
New parts/different parts will impact what's needed so shims might need to be added or taken away as well. When that happens, I try to be consistent if removing adding them. |
