Measurement request - manual trans owners step inside!
Evening folks-
I'm in the middle of gathering parts for a gmt400 5 speed conversion, and I've just found out that GM discontinued the shifter boot for my truck. I *believe* the boot they used on 99-06 trucks will interchange, but I don't have one handy to compare. So, would some kind soul be willing to measure the overall base length / width of the shift boot, and also the spacing of the screws retaining trim ring on the boot. Thanks in advance! |

9" wide by 8-1/2".
Mine only has 4 screws, 1 in each corner under the rubber. There are some other holes that are larger, perhaps something left over from the molding process. 99 Silverado 1500, 5-speed, 4.3 V6 |

Well that's unfortunate! I just went out and checked the boot in my pickup, it's 6-3/4" square. Same 4 screws in the corners.
Back to the drawing board. S10Fan, thank you sir! |

Have you already cut a hole in the floor?
The Kenworth T800 & T600 boots are 7-3/4" square. That's only 1" difference edge total or 1/2" on each edge when you split the difference. |

No, not yet. That is an interesting thought!
Overall, I'm trying to stay as factory as possible, and was hoping to go by the pre-dimpled markings on the trans tunnel, but that may not be an option if I can't find a good boot. The one in my donor is shredded :whine: |

You're not going to Pebble Beach with it...:lol: You just want it to look decent. Don't we all. It wouldn't pass full concourse muster with a non-stock non original transmission but who really cares. |
