Gasoline Resistant Paint For Fuel Filler Neck

Seems the original in-cab gas tanks had a portion of the filler neck painted black (see pics below). I would like to replicate that look on my aftermarket tank. What paint would be the best and most durable for this application?

A pic of my original tank (one at top of pic). The paint seems to have been masked to stop before the ridge at the end where the cap goes.

A pic of another members tank where the paint extends past that ridge but not onto the area where the cap seats.

If you don’t paint all the way to the lip any paint should work . Occasional spills won’t do much if you clean it off quickly just like the body . I do motorcycle tanks often the problem is when you have a paint edge to close to where the fumes are present . The gas gets under the paint and softens it as it never really dries . If you have ever filled a motorcycle you will notice where the rubber on the cap seals there is no paint .

I'd imagine a good catalyzed paint would work best.

You could get something like this:

Or a local auto paint store, could probably mix you something where they add the hardener in the store and have it ready for you to spray.

If you are getting really fancy there is an air dry Cerakote that would probably work well. I had a master cylinder done recently with the air dry product that has held up agains brake fluid and brake cleaner.

The Cerakote Series C stuff looks nice. I watched a YouTube video of it withstanding Acetone, brake fluid and gasoline. Unfortunately I'm not setup to spray anything or I'd definitely go that route for the piece of mind.

There may be a decent spray bomb that is a ceramic brake caliber paint. https://4wdlife.com/tech-talk/brake-caliper-paint/

I would take to a local body shop and have them spray it with a base coat/clear coat. Prep it by removing all the old paint primer.
