Custom Classic Trucks S-10

I saw this in my magazine and was a little surprised the little S-10 showed up in it, but it's a very clean, great looking, well done truck. I love it. I think this is what I want mine to eventually look like. It's even victory red like mine :D The article says it's a 94, but it looks like the owner put a 98+ nose on it.

Although a '94 Chevy S-10 may not be considered a classic truck yet, that didn't stop Steve Grybel from giving his '94 a classic look. In order to achieve the look, Grybel dropped his S-10 over a set of wide whites and steelies, accented it with a nice amount of pinstriping, and gave the interior some '50's flavor to create a classic look on a '90's mini truck.

That's sweet Jesse. I like it. When are you going to lower yours.

looks great!

can you just "swap" the nose/grill? Or do you have to do alot of customizing to get the 99+ nose fit on a 94??

I already did! It has 2" belltech spindles up front. I put those on about a month or two after I bought it!

I'm going to drop the front 1 more inch with springs and I have 2" blocks for the rear.

For some reason my truck only has a slight rake with the front drop. A board member suggested to me that my truck has been overloaded in its lifetime which "dearches" the weaker rear leafs of an S-10. Whatever the reason, but truck "looks" almost level with the front dropped. It used to look "nose high" to me.

Looks to be real simple. I found this on s10forums.com

Ill say it nicely but others will flame you till you die:

PLEASE USE THE SEARCH BUTTON NEXT TIME

This has been covered a 32984793856439856945 times ATLEAST!
I think its even a sticky in the HOW-TO or EXTERIOR section.

But to answer your question, you will need:
*98+ Core support
*98+ Headlights
*98+ Signal lights
*98+ grill

You can keep your bumper or upgrade to 98+. Then you will also need:
*98+ bumper
*98+ lower valence (yours will also 'fit', but you may not like the look)
http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f136/f...ersion-393949/

Seems to be fairly straight forward, all bolt on.

One thing I hate about that site is that you can't ever ask a damn question because 50 people will tell you it's been answered a billion times and to use the search button, just as the ass I quoted did to the poor fella who asked the question.

Well, I had to do 3 different searches because the terms I used didn't work. I still didn't find what I needed until I hit "page 3" and the info was still sparse.

Again, I love this site!

I also found a step by step how to:

http://www.s10forum.com/94_97_to_98_...end_conversion

It sucks the pics are gone, but it seems pretty detailed.

wooohooo thanks man! :)

Just bought a 96 S10 (4x4, 4.3 V6, ext cab), so maybe I'll to the "swap" (if i can get those spares here in germany, the S-10 was never sold here by GM/Chevy, only imports).

Love yours, normally I dont like red cars, but on the S10 it just looks great! (I also like the result of the front drop!)

Re: Custom Classic Trucks S-10

I didn't even realize your location! The other thing I "don't like" about the 94-97 S10's is that the rear bumper is "molded into" the bed. On the 98+ trucks it's "separate."

I wish I had know this information myself a year ago before I bought my truck. I found a REALLY nice 97 with about the same mileage as mine for a couple grand less, but I hated the grill so much I didn't buy it. If I had known it was so easy to swap, I would have bought it.

Re: Custom Classic Trucks S-10

Greetings from Germany! :)

Picked up my "new" S-10 on Saturday! :metal: Drives great.
I relalised this one was really sold by a Opel (GM) Dealership in Germany, so its kind of an official "grey-import" (I guess...).

Okay, now lets see if i can find me a new "nose" for the truck! :)

You really dont like the old grill hu? I dont think its that bad looking, but the newer one looks way better!

Re: Custom Classic Trucks S-10

Well, I guess I would own one with the "older grill," but here in the states the 98+ are so plentiful and reasonably priced, I held out for the "one I wanted." :D

I wonder what they used for the windshield on the black one? Looks kinda like a 47-53 truck...

I've seen the red one in person a few times at shows and that pic doesn't really do it justice. The owner is a pretty cool guy too.
